Will anyone be checking out the Supernova tonight?
An exploding star in a galaxy far from Earth should be visible for the next night or two. The supernova lies in the Pinwheel galaxy.
How to find it -
Look at the last two stars in the handle of the Big Dipper. These stars are called Mizar and Alkaid. Pretend you are drawing an equilateral triangle on the sky, using Mizar and Alkaid to mark two points of the triangle. The supernova will be located at the third point of your imaginary triangle.
It cannot be seen by the naked eye but if you have a pair of 7X35 or 7X50 binoculars, you should be able to see it.
