Also to add, on eBay I go above and beyond to make sure my customers are satisfied, and I try to ship ASAP, even buyers comment on my super fast shipping! And my Paypal account is confirmed, verified, and even connected to a bank account so there should be no worries that I can't pay for something when needed.

If anyone has successfully gotten this hold removed, please let me know.

Unfortunately I don't know of a more convenient alternative to Paypal with regards to buying and selling. I feel somewhat betrayed.

My first thought is that this might be a phishing scam. If so, don't use any links within the letter to respond to it. I presume your PayPal account is linked to a bank account. Perhaps there is an issue with that bank.

Call paypal, they have an 800 number

Yep, happened to me. Don't know why, had (and still have) perfect feedback. After having the restriction for about 3 months they lifted it. Never got an explanation, but as it is a bit of a hobby it was no big deal to me... good luck, hope you can get it lifted... also, if positive feedback is posted for the item you sold the money is released...

Even though, Paypal fake emails are common, this one is real.

I went to my Paypal account directly (not through any links in the email) and there is this big pink banner after I log in that says:

"From now on, money you receive will be temporarily held in a pending balance. To learn more, please read our Payment Holds policy."

And it looks like other people have been hit with this out of the blue in the past year or so.

While my Paypal account has never had a hold on it, I have had some eBay payments and others held for quite a while (14-21 days) for no apparent reason.

Sometimes it feels like Paypal randomly goes through their user accounts and assigns holds to certain accounts.

Just wondering but... can they legally hold your money? I'm guessing there's a clause in their agreement, but it doesn't seem right.

I had the same thing happen to me. Im sure it is because I removed my bank account bEcause I don't trust the SOBs. Wish we had other options with eBay

thank you for your replies

It didn't happen to me, but PP is infamous for holding people's funds, issuing refunds and not talking to the seller, etc. PP sucks.

Is it possibly not related to you, but the type of items you tend to sell? Maybe they put a blanket policy for all that type of item/seller?

I just got an email... It came in my spam titled "Notification of Limited Account Access RXI-82791". Gmail warned, "Warning: This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information" and it was from service@paypall.com

My buddy had this on his account because he wasn't shipping through PayPal.
