If you want to buy new, I'd suggest going with a budget line (under $100) starting out. What you have seems fine. Rods can get into the thousands, but there is no sense in dropping that as a beginner. If you check garage sales, you can sometimes pick up an old combo for $30-50 and they'll work just as well, if not better, as something that's $100 today.

Good luck to you in your new hobby. I seemed to catch a bit more by fly-fishing (than I did with a lure/spinning rod -- although they seemed to be a bit smaller on average), but it sure wears out your arms really fast. I went back to using rooster tails on a spinning combo after a few sessions.

Also, start out with a few locally tied flies. They'll run a bit more but they're worth it. It goes the same as any type of lure fishing. Get a few colors and see what they're hitting that day, then stick with it until your luck runs out.

Also, get a net, they're fragile little guys compared to bass.

Good luck!

Save yourself the aggrevation, just fish from a boat. Of course I am just kidding. But, I will say that I tried fly fishing once. I spent more time untangling my line from trees and twigs than I did actually fishing. Probably my fathers fault that we weren't in a wide enough stream. Yeah. Yeah. That's the ticket. The imagery was beautiful.
If I still had my gear, I'd give it to you! :-)

If you love fishing your going to want to invest in it... Because its one of the most rewarding styles of fishing I have found.

Get a good GLoomis Rod and a nice Ross Reel. Make sure its balanced and you are going to want to spend sometime on youtube learning techniques:

That is a good series on the topic.
