It's always been this way. What you were seeing before was a translation of that timestamp to words that made sense, but the underlying timestamp has been in a rough equivalent of GMT for as long as there's been Deals dot Woot. Let me see if I can find a nice explanation of this from the developers, since "similar questions" no longer really displays anything useful.

Thanks, I could find anything when I searched for "time stamps". That thread answered my question exactly. The confusion only arose because the deal I commented on was for April 30th only, but it looked as if I was commenting on May 1st, asking why the deal wasn't working.
