I'll bet he's more than happy to take payments via Western Union, too.

Watch out or he'll post mean things on the Twitter about you.

I've always wondered why woot doesn't use some kind of auto delete/ban script against these spammers. It would be easy to detect the crap they're writing. Even if they change the wording, they still have to link the site and its url (or even a portion of it) could trigger the auto delete/ban. If the spammer can't transfer us over, he'll stop harassing us.

Woot, can you clarify why you aren't doing this?

I've been runnin' spammers down like a bounty hunter lately...I'm pretty sure it's a handful of people doing it, that are familiar with deals.woot. (The mods are SUPER fast. They'll kill the spam and the spammers within a minute or so usually :D)

Some of the spammers will actually create active "sleeper" accounts, add a couple deals, make a couple stupid comments and wait before triggering their improvised spamming device. Haven't studied too much, but sometimes they'll wait days.

@razmig00: I dunno about a ban/delete, but I'm sure they have an alert on certain triggers (x posts in x seconds, links, etc). Considering all of the quality traffic deals.woot gets, it's actually immaculate as far as spam goes. And any spam that slips through gets nixed, lickidy-split. Woot's got some pretty solid tech staff (and members), so I'm sure there are anti-spam measures.

I do not consider Spammers to be my friends.

They use up valuable resources on the servers and make @wootbot 's job harder than usual.

@razmig00: i agree with razmig00

when do we not want them? now!
