If both Woot! and Google offered you a job as a janitor in the same day, would you move to TX or CA?
I don't think I'd move to CA for any job, unless the pay was at least 5 times higher than I make now.
It's a good thing I already live within range of Woot in TX, because I'd have to keep my day job since being a Woot janitor would be more of a hobby.
Ok, you're making me choose between two good friends, that's no fair!
TX. Easy answer. I've never left anything in CA worth going back for.
Plus, no personal income tax in TX. Less paperwork in April!
Easy, I already live in California and won't even travel through Texas (the state is run by a certified numbnuts).
Why did you omit WA? If I could afford it, I would move to CA in a heartbeat!
tx all the way
Another vote for Texas. The government there is much, much more business friendly, whereas California is downright business hostile. Far better to be a Texican than a Californicator.
I'd clean up after the monkeys in TX, thanks.
Same crap, different state.
In live in CA and would jump at a chance to work in Texas. I'm sure cleaning up after monte and Mortimer would be hard work though.
Living in OK, Texas is just a bigger state of the same kind of people.
Rather go with the evil you know then the evil you don't know.
Texas.
Would be sweeping up Monkey Po until I could sneak a Shotgun into work on the weekend... The messy monkey is a goner....
Texas in a heartbeart...though I would vacationin cali every summer
I'd go with Woot, because the janitor work there is easy. You don't have to worry about cleaning toilets because they don't crap in them. They package it up and sell it.
neither. I have a good job. :)
google in CA, without a doubt
I already live in CA, and am already contemplating a move to the republic of texas.
I'll take both jobs and charter a jet to go from state to state. :D
Texas, for sure, although my politics run counter to those in that state. I'm a southern girl at heart and Texas is close enough. I know my way around most of Dallas as my dad spent many months in a hospital there.
Speaking of jobs, I only have four more weeks of work. IS there a janitorial position open at Woot? I've worked with lab monkeys before, so Mortimer and Monte should be easy to deal with! Guess I'd better dash over to their job postings!
Well, between Google and Woot, I'd normally pick Google; however, between CA and TX, I'd have to pick TX.
WA would be nice though too!
i live in arlington thats not far from woot so the answer is obvious
Woot has people in Seattle, so I'd go with that.
Texas. It would make it easier to stalk Woot writers.
Ha ! I had never bothered to read the actual job postings at woot. I am positive that I would follow instructions but like (bring the hiring manager a maple bacon donut) or 6 lbs of Vermont cheddar ... Hopefully you get the job the first try or else these could be expensive interviews :-)
I wonder if it’s a game amongst hiring managers to come up with most strange or unique item to bring
Google also has offices in TX ... (Austin)
I'd move to Texas, 'cause Texas likes my guns & ammo as much as I do. Although, I don't know if I can get my hair teased up as high as a Texas Homecoming Queen's. You know what they say...the higher the hair, the closer to God.
@lavikinga: Have you been watching GCB? ;) I would gladly go to either place, but the wage issue would have to be analyzed. Wages earned vs. cost of living. My head/heart would probably eventually say Texas, because it's closer to the Natural State. :)
@jsimsace: Nope. I just live in the deep South and know of the high hair. It was much higher when I was a kid, I swear.
I will say that the number of polite, lift-your-hat-to-a-lady gentlemen is higher in Texas. I like that. I like having a man remove his hat and hold it over his chest when being introduced to me. I'm romantically old-fashioned in that respect.
@lavikinga: Off topic, but IIRC you live in Oklahoma, and that's not far from Texas. :) I will say on record that you should catch up on GCB with Hulu, Netflix or whatever you have available. It seems like a show you could sympathize with.
@jsimsace: Nope. I have never lived in Oklahoma. I'm Navy born, Navy married, and the Navy had the good sense to never send us to Oklahoma. I was born in FL, and after moving all over, ended back here. I'll take an infrequent hurricane over ice storms and tornadoes any day. The big haired women, they scare me.
Neither, they are both crappy states. Add New York to the crappy state list as well.
CA have you seen the snack bar at google? at least two free meals a day from 11 different gourmet cafeterias. As if that weren’t enough, another thing you didn’t know about Google is that in addition to the cafeterias, Google offers numerous snack bars that are chock-full of healthy morsels to munch on.
