Sure I would. The saltiness in the peanut butter would contrast the sweetness of the strawberry jelly. Then there's ice cream underneath. BRB...I have a craving now. :)

Peanut butter is great as an ingredient in ice cream, especially with chocolate. I've had ice cream with something like fruit jelly in it also, don't remember the flavors, but they were good. So, I guess they'd work as toppings too. I think jam or preserves might work better than jelly. I'll have to try them.

I haven't had a good chocolate peanut butter ice cream in a long time, but that's always been my favorite.

@jsimsace: Salty really works with ice cream. I've gotten into the (occasional) habit of salted walnuts as a topping.

heck yeah! one of my fav. vareties of ice cream, when i could find it, was PB&J.
one version, was vanilla w/ a PB swirl, and a J(grape please)swirl
another was same as above, but choc. instead of vanilla
third version was PB ice cream, w/a grape Jelly swirl

few and far between, but when i can find me some.... oh yeah...
only thing that would make it better would be bacon.

I <3 PB&J. As a topping, an ingredient, main dish or side dish. In bread, on a spoon, in a cone or all alone.

Jelly's always been an ice cream topping, they just thinned it out and called it "syrup". Personally I prefer the tartness of fresh fruit to the cloying sweetness of jellies or syrups on my ice cream. And crushed peanuts have also long been a common ice cream topping, so peanut butter isn't very far afield. The PB sounds good depending on what it was thinned with. I'd expect the savory peanut butter flavor to be a great complement to the sweetness of the ice cream.

I love this combo. Haven't done it in years, because I forgot. The hard part is that the peanut butter hardens and it's hard to get it to every bite. Melt the peanut butter and pour it over for a better peanut flavor and to make sure it gets in every bite.

Friendly's Ice Cream has had peanut butter syrup on their ice cream menu for 30 years as well as fruit toppings. This idea is nothing new.

@omnichad: Great tip on the toppings!

I haven't tried these on ice cream, but it sounds fantastic.

it isn't ice cream substituting for bread that's strange. it's bread substituting for ice cream, THAT is strange. who would rather eat bread than ice cream?!?

Sour cream and onion potato chips with chocolate ice cream might be one of the greatest things of all time. I know it sounds weird. It's not.

Well, that's two week's worth of ice cream cravings ; )
