My favorite has always been Iron Man. He feels so real compared to many of the others, and as a tinkerer myself, I enjoy the creations he toys around with.

Spiderman. He's an ordinary guy caught up in a web (pun intended) of extraordinary events. Love that he is so human and vulnerable.

That's a hard one...I am a big fan of spiderman, but my favorite would probably be the hulk.

You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

I have always been a big Flash fan...

Batmas, but the old fashioned, 1960's Batman.

After a hard day at work I really appreciate the unbridled rage of the Hulk... Wouldn't you sometimes love to just "SMASH Puny Humans!!"??

A close second would have to be the Dark Knight himself... A mere human who has the drive, courage, and skills to be considered a perfect human specimen...

I'm a huge comic book nerd...
I can honestly answer that this is too difficult of a question.

Probably the Hulk. I relate to his inability to control the inner beast within.
Also, Superman. The version from the 1966 musical starring Jack Cassidy and Linda Lavin.

Lester Girls from the Malibu Eternity series Trouble With Girls

and Lobo from the DC universe

Wolverine because of his attitude and regeneration capability. He can intentionally take a crazy beating and pop back up and really start whooping some arse.

I still have to go with Shirtless Girl on this one.

I can't decide between Iron Man, Green Lantern, or Batman

Green arrow is pretty cool too but I don't think he makes the top 3.

Ohh I know how about the wonder twins! XD

Gambit - not the way he is portrayed in the Wolverine movie

I was never into superheros as a kid. The only superhero comics I read as a kid were some old Spidermans that were mixed in with the stacks of sports magazines at the barber shop my dad would take me to. So I really don't have any childhood favorites.

When I was a bit older I discovered The Tick, and he is easily my favorite superhero. (An escaped mental patient who thinks he's a superhero? Whats not to love?)

If you forced me to pick from the DC or Marvel universe I'd be basing my choice completely on what I have seen in movies. In that case it would easily be Iron Man. I like the mere mortal made super only by skill, brains, and technology aspect that he and Batman share. But Iron Man wins because Tony Stark would actually be fun to be around.

I like Thor. I mean, he's a god, and not some lame god either. He's the thunder god. That's the coolest origin any hero has ever had.

I hate to be cliche but I gotta say Batman yeah he's not a "super" as he has no powers, but that's what makes him so cool and accessible. Every kid dreams that one day they'll be as cool as Batman... No need to be alien or altered by a mutant gene.

For non cliche I could have to say Rorschach... Dude is badass, plan and simple.

It would have to be Iron Man. I really love his house and stuff.

Second to that would be Professor-X with the mind control and all.

@jeremytheindian: Yes, he's just a regular old person. Who has billions of dollars, is trained in martial arts, and still manages to help run his company while fighting crime. Totally accessible.

I feel as though I should be giving one of the ladies some love here, but I've always been a Batman kind of girl for the major heroes.

As a kid I was all about The Phantom. Newspapers would be disassembled before my parents could even glance at them so I could dig through to those precious strips that matched the old, musty comics I dug up on a "treasure hunt" at grandpop's.

Gambit was my favorite growing up and watching the animated version of X-Men.

I'd have to say Batman now looking back and having re-watched some of the shows I watched when I was younger.

Though I like the new Batman movies, I still prefer Batman the Animated Series over any iteration (should note I haven't read any comic books).

I'm another Batman fan. I especially like when Batman's detective skills are emphasized. Yeah he's incredibly well trained and got cool toys, but he's also an awesome detective.

I distinguish between characters who are man-made and those whose powers are derived through extraterrestrial, natural or genetic means. I also distinguish between characters with interesting story lines and those who are actually fighting evil. Having said that, of the X-Men, mutant characters locked in a battle to save the puny humans, Storm is my favorite superhero (Wolverine is my favorite of the X-Men, however, subject to the above limitation). I'm also a big fan of Storm's love interest, the Black Panther, who was a longtime affiliate of the Avengers. I'd also have to add Moon Knight and Daredevil in the superhero category although Daredevil is probably better identified as a "demi"-superhero (like D.C.'s the Batman).

Agree about Spider-Man. Definitely very accessible to nerds like us. Even with the poor movie adaptations, I hope the reboot can straddle the line better between entertaining and being faithful to the source material. I also wonder if they will be able to incorporate the death of Gwen Stacy into the upcoming sequel(s) as the bridge to his relationship with Mary Jane.

Is the plural of Batman Batmen?

I believe it was Seinfeld that discussed this at great length: Superman is simply better than Batman. Batman is a billionaire playboy that works out a lot while Superman can pretty much destroy Earth when he wants. Superman has both the important human qualities while, you know, being invincible and everything. Superman's only weakness is Kryptonite, while Batman's weakness is everything--like knives, bullets and Superman.

However, my favorite superhero has to be . Shablagoo!
