I'm looking for a small, quality, low-price 8-16GB flash drive for my keychain
I had an 8GB verison of one of these flash drives http://www.amazon.com/HP-v115w-Flash-Drive-P-FD4GBHP115-EF/dp/B00347A420/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1322627911&sr=1-1
but now I plug it in and my computer can't recognize it. I'm looking for something to replace it, but when I see the reviews its as if all these things have some near fatal design flaw.
Does anyone know of a good product of this type? Something extremely portable, works long-term, won't fall off my keychain with normal use...?

I've been carrying one of these in my pocket for a few years now without incident.
This one has good reviews (it is also the cheapest 16gb on amazon atm): http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/43d31f1f-02d8-4a3d-9d32-1d79389a3d1e/kingston-datatraveler108-16gb-flash-drive
Also, have you tried formatting your old one on another computer?
@lordwoot: Damn. I want that, but I have plenty of flash drives already. Must. Resist. Urge. To. Add. To. Cart.
I recommend the corsair voyager. Reliable, durable and looks cool. Frequently on sale, as well.
For $5 more, this is (to me) a better deal. I actually just ordered one last night.
Good speed, especially for just being USB 2.0

That Data Traveler isn't too bad though.

I have one of these and it is also one of the highest rated flash drives on newegg:

it is a bit large, but it has a rubber coating which makes it great for a keychain, protecting it from bumps and scratches. Also very good read speeds.
I also just found this one which looks great:

usb3, aluminum casing for durability, 16gb and good reviews! Seems like a no brained for 18 bucks.
I didn't click thru all of the links, but I really would suggest a Corsair Voyager Mini. It's tiny, rubber covered, seems reasonably protected. I've had one on my keys for a while and it's no worse for the wear other than on the key attachment part itself (some gauge of fishing line covered in black elastic fabric).
@lordwoot: I was going to post that same drive... Good choice...
