Why did my deals get deleted?
I never thought it would happen to me, but I seem to have incurred the wrath of the woot gods. All of the deals I've posted to my store have been removed (even the old ones.)
I think I've been following the rules. I created this account specifically at the request of @jumbowoot .
I definitely don't spam the boards.
Not one person has ever complained about not getting their stuff. So what gives?
Am I no longer allowed to post deals?
Sorry, I don't know. I'm assuming you've read @lichme's unofficial deals FAQ's & Questions. Maybe the answer is there. If not, I'm sure @jumbowoot will be along soon to explain.
for what website were you posting deals? what type of items were they? these details might help find an answer more quickly...
@boydrew: Shaving stuff. www.shave-like-a-man.com is the website. I've been posting deals to it for almost a year with no problems (I've even sold to some woot staff,) so it was quite a shock to see all the deals removed.
I would also like to know, I was looking forward to seeing some shaving stuff come up. maybe the prices lasted too long and prompted Woot staff to they that they were regular price?
@ki4rxm: I was wondering that as well, but one of the deals removed was for a new product and was less than an hour old.
Also, if the price offered is regular price but is still the lowest price available, I would think that it would still be considered a good deal.
Do you expire your deals when they are no longer deals? If not, and you had a lot of them, maybe they just got massively deleted to save time.
@lichme: I actually expired a few recently as the prices were no longer valid. Any that were still active were still accurate.
I see the purge has cost me my black triangle as well...

Maybe my bad luck has rubbed off on you, because I looked at your deal for the shaving brush (As I have been thinking about switching how I shave) and visited your website today. If that's the case, I feel really bad about that for you, BUT THANK GOODNESS FOR ME!!!
I would like to think that Mortimer started banging on the keyboard and deleted a bunch of stuff randomly......but alas........
I'd say you ticked some staffer off one way or another.

A: Invisible rules, arbitrarily applied, by humans with their own prejudices/thought processes. That's usually why.
Just a thought: Deleted deals and expired deals are 2 different things, are they not? Expired deals are just RIP'ed & are still visible. Deleted deals are...well, deleted. Gone, poof! ;-)
Another thought: Deals is not famous for expiring deals on it's own. If that were the case, many of wootbots deals, some well over a year old, would show as RIP'ed. :-\
Just an FYI, this situation is being looked into. (Further updates likely to come from people more directly related to deals staff.) As always we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
@shavelikeaman: The frequency of problems like yours is getting to the point of being almost an everyday part of Deals.Woot life.. and getting more common by the day.

I'm subscribing to this question because I have seen no reason for annihilation of your deals. Hopefully we will find out soon. :)

Well, I still haven't received any sort of answer, but it looks like I've been banned.
I just checked to see what would happen if I tried to post a deal and I got this: "We're sorry. Deals.Woot does not accept deals from shave-like-a-man.com"
I don't even know what to say.
@shavelikeaman: I'm very surprised that there hasn't been an answer to this. Especially since it looks as though you haven't received any communication from the DW staff via email either. It's striking me as odd. Perhaps we just need to page @jumbowoot one more time to see if you were banned on accident, or if there was a violation that you're not aware of?
@inkycatz: It's been nearly 24 hours since your reply and it's still the only one from staff. :( Can you poke @jumbowoot or someone please? :)

@shavelikeaman: That sucks. Things like this are turning me off of Woot. I wasn't a shirt.woot person, so the blanks change didn't really affect me, but the talk of the way they did it and the way things were handled with the community reaction has. This smacks of the same type of treatment. Not good. @inkycatz please let us know if you find anything out.

This is ridiculous. Are we to assume that @jumbowoot just hopes this will go away once it is buried in the dregs of ATC? I will not stop following this topic, or "answering" it, until there is a public explanation. Sorry if that is too much to expect, but as a consumer I have the right to set the hurdle high for web sites/retailers/etc. that get my business and/or make money off of me.

@gmwhit: I don't think it is appropriate to get too specific, but woot staff review websites to make sure the sites linked here are appropriate and of a certian level of quality. A staff member made what they felt was the best decision at the time using the information available to them at the time. We had a nice phone call,chatted about my business, and things have been cleared up.
@shavelikeaman: Did not mean to be intrusive at all. Just wondered, as @thumperchick did, if a rule was violated or whatever. Doesn't matter. Pleased that everything worked out and you're back! :-D
@shavelikeaman: So, growing pains it is. Either way, glad you're back and that the staff was able to work it out with you.
Now, if we could just get a heads up from a staff member when it will be a few days for an answer, such as @jumbowoot being out of the office, so that we don't jump to snark and apathy for no reason. :)
