I thought the debate was yesterday?

@tippypaws: Track down the first season and try to stick with it. It is beyond weird. I didn't like it, but yet I did. Hard to explain the fascination with it, and it had it's OMG/I don't believe this just happened moments. I would DVR'd it and not watch for weeks, but once I started an episode, I couldn't wait to jump to the next one.

Don't be surprised if you hate it but get hooked at the same time. It's like eating hot peppers. You wonder why you torture your tongue with them, but you can't help taking another bite.

I'm going to give the second season a try. Jessica Lange. She's come a long way from being just a pretty face captured by Kong.

I had no idea this was tonight! Thanks!

@tippypaws: It's hard to explain, but it's basically a super natural show. A family moved into this house in the first season, and the house was haunted. Lots and lots of terrible things happened there. I honestly don't want to go into too much more detail than that, because spoilers, but I loved the show. It's really well done and isn't a "horror" show in the traditional American sense. It's a mindgame: you don't know who certain people are or what's actually going on or even who is alive and who is dead. It's very well written.

I actually had trouble getting through the first few episodes, as quite a lot of the show is what passes for "horror" in the modern age (gory imagery, over the top violence, cheap "boo" shots). I joked with my friend that I could follow the plot from the kitchen as easily as from the living room, as the melodramatic music told me everything that was happening on screen. But I eventually got engaged with the characters and came to enjoy the show. I found Tate to be an especially interesting character. Underneath all the noise there was an interesting story being told, you just had to be patient enough to look for it. The season finale was quite unique, with a resolution I have found myself describing to a number of people over the summer. So in short, yes, I am looking forward to the new season, hoping they can manage to keep up the storytelling standard without losing focus and giving in to lurid imagery and pop horror cliches.

Yep! DVR is set and wife and I are excited. Very compelling show which was originally planned as a mini-series.

Also, interesting decisions being made by the producers. Can almost the entire cast, start in a different time period, and begin an entirely new story line. Should be very interesting to see what they do.

Yes! I'm hoping it is as good, interesting and innovative as the first season.

That is an extremely creepy show. They did a good job on it.

@kylemittskus: I like that they have a new cast and new storyline. That way I can pick it up in season 2 without feeling like I'm missing much!

@tippypaws: That's just what I was thinking when I heard that this morning. I am going to try it out this year for the first time. Excited to check it out.

I love the type of shows FX puts out, this show is too creepy for me

I haven't seen it before....will I be able to watch tonight and not be completely lost?

vote-for2vote-against

@jsimsace: Yes. This season has NOTHING to do with the last season. Half of the cast is new and it is an entirely different story line.

As ridiculous as it sounds the show is from the same creators as Glee (and Nip Tuck). American Horror Story is NOT very Gleelike so I would suggest not watching it with your teenage Daughter. Not that I watch Glee with my teenage daughter.........

Thanks for the reply. I may check it out.
