define too many....
does a pile in each vehicle, and the kitchen count? i use them as a "here have some stuff" package. let others benefit. won't give them to resale stores because they sell them for more than original price instead of using them as out-th-door bags

No. I have 1, and I put all the plastic bags I get from shopping inside it. Then we use those plastic bags for various things. Someone gave me that bag once for Christmas or something, so I just started using it as a bag for bags.

No, they have been around $5 a piece in my area.

According to my husband we do. He calls them "Tribbles" or "treehugger bags." They hold so much & rarely ever tear while bringing the groceries inside.
Living in the very deep South, I especially like the insulated bags. Once a month I do a "big shop" at my DFAS Commissary. While I look like a goof with not one, but two re-usable bags packed with both insulated & non-insulated bags hanging in the front of my shopping cart, the baggers love it. They can pack more, pack faster, help me pack my car & return inside faster to earn those tips. Love it that frozen stuff is still frozen when I get home!

@moosezilla: I forced myself into the habit folding the bags flat & storing them inside a worn out bag. It's a royal PITA the first couple of times, I'll admit. I made it easier & bought two larger sized reusable bags from my local Tractor Supply Store. Those suckers are half again as wide & tall. Very worth the two buck each I spent for them. They work well as firewood carriers too.

Yea I think we have too many. Think we are at 10-12 now, finace keeps 2 in purse, a couple in the car a bunch in the kitchen and then some more that are in storage. But sadly I don't have any insulated ones... so I guess I will be getting some more at some point.

I have about a dozen at present and don't think that it is too many. I fold them flat after use, into (about) an 8"x12" rectangle and they stack nicely.

In the house, they live on the end of the shelf above the coat hooks.

In the car, they either live on the back seat or in the trunk.

Now the only problem is remembering to take them from the house to the car.

We have a bunch, but not too many yet. And I always pick up some plastic one for use with the litter box.

Some cities and counties here in SoCal have restrictions on plastic bags, which makes reusable ones a must. I only have a few, though, as it's sufficient for my needs.

I have more than probably any two of you, and I do not think I have too many. I have two mesh bags that live in my purse (because they scrunch up to an incredibly small size (gift from my daughter, so no, I don't know where to get more). I have any number of canvas bags, which I separate into grocery store only, and everything else, only. Each of those is around 15 or 20. The grocery store only are nearly all O'Reilly Book bags (they used to just give them away, long, long ago), and I love them because their handles are so long. I can usually bring in all the groceries at once (although I look like a milk maid).

The others are handy for the farmer's markets, or just in general. I've had nearly all of my bags for 15-20 years or more (except the mesh ones, which are about 10 years old). They're all canvas, and they just last and last. Anyone with a sewing machine could easily make them.

I bag my own groceries, so that things don't get shoved in willy-nilly.

Short answer? No.

No. I think I only have 1 right now, but I wish I had more. They come in handy, especially for travel. My mom has used some nicer-looking ones as gift bags in the past (and she received lots of compliments on it and people wondered where they could buy some). I have way too many plastic bags, however...

Too many at home, or too many in my car when I actually need them? Yes to the first, no to the second.

We have 0 and I expect it to stay that way.

We have a bunch of reusable canvas tote bags in a larger reusable canvas tote bag.

@shrdlu: are you sure you wanna make that bet? about every other month the menard's here in town puts them on free-after-rebate sale, limit 10. i currently have about 60 on the shelf, plus random piles in each of the vehicles.

@moosezilla: Okay, so I have more than you, or at least as many, but not twice as much. I also have multiple black canvas bags (mostly from O'Reilly, also), and I use them only when traveling, since they're distinctive.

Still, I love them, and have used canvas bags for shopping since long before it was fashionable (starting in the early seventies).

I also have several of the insulated style, every one of them from some conference or other. Clever idea, since (unlike most conference bags) I have kept every one, and I use them, which means the company providing it gets their name out there.

I have just the right amount including one that's designed to hold 6 wine bottles.

@phillystyle: I just got one this weekend for wine bottles! Apparently I can always find a use for them and as such, don't have too many. :)
