What's a good Linux distro for a Netbook?
I have a Samsung NC10 Netbook with Win XP SP3, 160GB HD, 1GB RAM and a 10.1 screen. I was wondering what a good, fast, and battery efficient Linux distribution would be. I just wanted to get some ideas as to what's out there. I currently dual boot with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Netbook Remix.
I am looking that makes good use of the limited desktop real estate. Thanks for any suggestions or advice.
Have you looked at Arch? http://www.archlinux.org/ My personal geek has it on his Acer netbook because it is lightweight and fast.
I've been using a series of linux distros on my desktop since my computer died a few years ago and he talked me into dual-booting linux on my new machine to try. (Windows side never gets booted now. :-)) About a week ago he traded out Fedora for Arch because the package management system and rolling releases makes it easier to customize and keep up-to-date.
