All right. Who broke Catbert The Great?

I was actually looking for something else, and remembered that @catbertthegreat had commented on it, or so I thought. I hit the user tab, and then the votes that he'd cast, for Questions. On or around 12/01/2009, all questions that he voted on are doubles. That is to say, if you click on the double arrow that takes you to the last page (currently 8 of 8), every question he voted on appears twice. It's true on page 7 as well. The last question that is doubled appears split between page 7 and page 6:

I can't find another user that this has happened to, but I only tried for a short while. This is, hands down, one of the strangest bugs I've seen. Every time I think the site's starting to get a little boring, you hand me a gift to keep my fascinated.

When the day comes that we get to edit our questions, will that include editing the title too? I hope???

In addition, I took a screen shot of page 8, if there's a developer that needs it.

Even the user tab gets duplicated. It is pages 6 through 8 for me too. However all is not lost, I have some super glue and duct tape, so I'll try and put myself back together.

@catbertthegreat: Just on the question side, though, right? I only saw this on the question side. I looked at the end for Deals, and also at pages 6-8, and also at 12/01/09, and any combination of that seemed fine.

Shrdlu == thorough.

It's just the most interesting thing. I love puzzles. It's like a great big present. Now I'll be spending the next few hours trying to think how it happened, and why you, and so on...

wow - your command of this site is amazing. most of how you figured out how to navigate has left me dizzy. well done! i am going to try to retrace the steps you listed so see if i can do likewise.

I think more things are suddenly broken than just @catbertthegreat. I was just curious about our newcomer, @swootchie, and here's some more peculiar bits. Now, I can see that @swootchie is voting, so why doesn't it show when comments are made?

I think that things are getting more tangled. I'll be relieved when staff shows, and the weekend is over. I do not like anomalies. I prefer broken things that are consistently broken, or broken in consistent ways.

@shrdlu: I'm starting to think that there is some serious flaw in the way the site is accessing the database information. It seems every other week or so some major bug is cropping up and they all seem somewhat similar.

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
