How about an app that shows ALL the Moofi deals! :)

JK, but seriously that would be cool.

I do have a phone that I go online with so I am unaware of all the apps out there, but if I did, I would like an app that let's me track all of my fantasy football and baseball players statistics. One where I can set it up with various players and when I open the app, the current stats for them would appear.

@packmanv29: Adding to that, an app that will compile all my fantasy scores from different sites; like ESPN, CBS, and Yahoo

@woothulhu: That's a good idea, I hate having multiple apps for fantasy sports

How about an app that helps brainstorm ideas for new apps?

here's one you haven't heard before. it's an app kinda like ebay where people post stuff for sale. but it's the next ebay cuz ebay is played out or something

@brutherford: is there an RSS feed for all moofi deals? the urls are all different and the only way to know them is to catch a moofi deal post randomly on deals.woot. do all moofi deals get posted up in the sponsored section? moofi deals that are in the sponsored section should have the sponsored tag too but i swear i've seen some moofis just posted regular

@w00tgurl: i'm on board with your idea, but perhaps too large scale for the average bear. (me being the bear of said average abilities)

I think i might go with that aggregate fantasy sports app. I did a little research, and there exists one: Fantasy Monster. But it's 5 bucks...yikes. I'll tackle that beast and take down the man!

Question: Are there legality issues I need to worry about when relaying login information from places like yahoo or espn? Apparently cbs sports made fantasy monster take down that functionality..do I need to pay royalties, or is it all fair game?

I have an idea. How about an app that keeps track of your mileage for business or charitable purposes? They already exist, but the one I'm thinking of would be soooo simple.

Basically you just open the app, start a new trip, then (and here's the slick part) it turns on your camera-->you take a pic of the odometer and it records the start mileage w/o you having to type it in. Then, when your trip is over, you take another pic of the odometer. You could have it email you a log every now and then. [copyright foonatic, 2011]

Take that, IRS! Be sure to PM me for an address to send royalty checks.

My brother thought of an app called "Phone" but I don't know if that would really catch on.

@foonatic: All the things I know of that do image recognition on a phone send the image off to a remote server for processing, rather than doing OCR on the device itself. That implies a further annoying level of infrastructure that would need set up =/

@zarfus: unfortunately with that entire area there seems like there will always be the potential for legal problems. It is just such a new and rapidly evolving area. I think with the relaying of login info they were probably more worried about the security of their users when using that application aspect than they were thinking anything legal right infringe-ey. This is of course just my (mostly ignorant) opinion, I am neither a lawyer nor a programmer, just a law student and lover of the things that programmers program.

How about a port/clone of the classic Windows game "Jezzball"? Been wanting to play it for -- oh -- 15 years. And it seems like just the right style/pace of play (including touch-screen) for iOS games.

That's right, iOS. If you do Android-only, I will be severely bummed.

An app that continuously takes photos, audio, and/or video and keeps a buffer of, say, 30 minutes before deleting the data. That way, if anything eventful happens, to have it recorded you only need to get to your phone within 30 minutes to tell it to keep the media.

In other words, the app version of what's being called a "life recorder".

Otherwise, a simple stop-motion or time-lapse app would be good. I think there's a few others already, but they have completely missed the bar.

@trypsin: While I agree that I often have times where I get out my phone to take a picture of what my baby nephew is doing just to miss it fumbling with getting the camera app open, your idea would kill the battery of most smart phones quickly. I don't think mine would last more than about 2 hours of that, less if I was trying to do anything else at the same time.

I set my phone on silent when I'm at school and when I get home I forget to turn the ringer up, so maybe an app that allows you to set your phone on silent for a certain amount of time and then when the time is up the volume turns on. For example set the time from 8:00 am to 2:00pm and the ringer on medium and then when its 2:00pm the volume will turn on.

Here's my idea for a new app: "WatchList" - I often see previews of movies I'd like to see, but not spend $$$ for theatre showings. By the time it gets to Netflix, I've forgotten to look for it. So, I'd like an app that allows me to make a "watch list" and then it notifies me when movie goes to DVD, On Demand, or Netflix, etc.
