I will use it, as I do Dropbox and Skydrive, but my excitement level is not high....I guess I have come to expect stuff like this from Google.

Kind of, I'll definitely sign up, but I have 2 TB of NAS that I can access anywhere and I cant get to any of those personal storage sites from work.

Sounds like one more way for Google to access more personal information about you.

I would use it. My dropbox, Asus WebStorage, Amazon Cloud, and Apple Cloud are almost full. As for NAS, yep have 2tb but I use the Cloud storage for work and school related stuff.

About as excited as I've been for the last 4 yrs. waiting for it; Which quite honestly... is pretty excited. Let's just wait and see if it actually happens.

Won't touch it. I trust Google with my information only a hair's breadth more than I would trust Facebook.

I used to have a firefox extension (I think it was FF...not sure) called Gspace that let you use a Gmail account as an online drive. I didn't use it very often, and I doubt I'll even sign up for this.

@ruger9mm: The files are encrypt in both transmission and storage.

The 25GB of Skydrive is pretty impressive...

@sausageballs: unfortunately, Skydrive is being cut to 7gb.

If you signed up before April 22, you get an upgrade to 25gb, but anyone that comes afterwards has to pay.

wait, what are they gonna name their driverless cars?

And the site is live! I had to "request" my drive.. we'll see how long it takes!

vote-for5vote-against

@rprebel: I had that, but it was a Linux FUSE module that let me mount my gmail account as an external drive. If I remember, I hit a transfer limit pretty quickly, haha.

i dl'ed the software google wants you to use but i dont like how i HAVE to have my cookies turned on to use it. its basically like "ok if you want to use Google Drive, you have to let us follow you around the internet and collect all your infomation." since i have other cloud options, i probably wont use this now.

vote-for3vote-against

@druke: I signed up for it... I got it immediately. I already filled it most of the way up with random crap so I can test out the efficiency

vote-for2vote-against

@capguncowboy: Sigh. Guess I'm not as important :D

vote-for3vote-against

I'm pretty amped up about it tbh, I'm not in the tinfoil hat crowd when it comes to Google and my info. I have dropbox, Amazon cloud, and now Google Drive, I'll see how it stacks up!

@linuxtrance: The only "issue" I can see from the outside so far is no Linux client. Hopefully there is an API for it so we can make one if they aren't.

@wootfast: That's what I thought this was about.

The title had me more excited than I am now :\

I usually like everything that google does, but this article about google drive was a bit scary:

http://phandroid.com/2012/04/24/googles-terms-of-service-may-scare-users-away-from-google-drive/

apparently google drive's tos is really intense.
