Best BBQ I've ever had was from a "food truck". He was also parked next to several picnic tables. Beef, pork, or chicken, it was all good. Too bad I don't live in that area any more.

If I'm on the run myself, the food truck. If not, I'll pay the higher price at a sit-down.

Either is fine with me, aloud I like the extra exhaust flavor that comes from the food trucks.

We don't have food trucks here, so I guess I'll vote for sit-down restaurant.

I have no problem eating from a food truck. They are just now starting to get popular where I live and they are really convenient if you are in a hurry.

Maybe because the best BBQ I have had was prepared for over 12 hours in a old smokey pit, I vote for the sit down. Most of what I have seen in trucks has been fast grilled food, with sauce poured over it for the flavor. It's OK, but its not really BBQ.

I'd rather get my BBQ from my backyard, because I love to barbecue and it is one of the few things I am actually very good at...

I'm a sucker for food trucks, however, I have a particular mom-and-pop BBQ place nearby that I enjoy more than any other BBQ I've tasted, so if I'm at home when choosing, I choose the sit-down restaurant. Anywhere else, I choose either whatever is closest to my current location, or whatever has the best reviews from the locals. I try not to make BBQ any more sophisticated than it is, and am rarely disappointed.

Best BBQ I have ever had was in Austin at the Salt Lick, if it was that good I don't have any issues eating from a food truck as long as it is as good.

@olperfesser: That's definitely not BBQ. If it's not smoked low and slow with plenty of wood smoke then it's just grilling. Although it can be tasty it's just not the same. Total agreement.

I like the sit-down restaurants. I prefer casual dining when it's a food that I really enjoy.

Good barbecue is messy, so I'd have to sit down somewhere. If the truck parked near a park where I could take the food to a table, then I'll go with truck, but if it's in some parking lot where there's nowhere to sit, I'll take restaurant every day.

I don't understand why anyone would want to eat off a truck if there are other options available. Hard to believe that almost any decent restaurant isn't better than a food truck.

In my area, the best BBQ I've had comes from a former food truck that's now popular and successful enough to have a storefront and eating area...So I'm voting for both??

vote-for3vote-against

All things being equal, a restaurant. If the price was significantly cheaper, I'd do the truck.

vote-for3vote-against

I'd get it from home, where I made it myself...

It depends on the food truck and/or "sit down" restaurant. If it's Korean BBQ Taco Box (Florida) then definitely food truck for the win!

The best BBQ in existence is served at Rudy's in Texas. It is a sit down place for the most part but has a very food truck feel to it.

It really depends. If they have a good sauce and can recreate char within such a small confined space then I'm all for it. But when it comes down to it, my BBQ best be made in a brick grill/oven for that smoky flavor.

Excuse me, I must go burn some meat to eat now.

@djp519: Then you obviously haven't experienced the new wave of food trucks sweeping the nation. There's some awesome stuff out there. It's not the steamed for 8 hour hotdogs or mystery meat sandwiches anymore.

@dijital101: While this is true, I do generally prefer my food to be cooked and handled in a facility that has running water. Call me picky!

@rabidfuzzle: Another vote for Rudy's BBQ! I have been to the one in San Antonio and the brisket, pork, chicken and sausage were all top notch. Oh, and the beans were tasty as well! They give you slices of white bread to sop up the juices. Yummy! I am getting hungry just thinking about it.

If I had to pick between the two options I'd probably be from a restaurant. I had some at this place Smoked from Above that was fantastic.

Otherwise, I'd rather make it at home =)
