I use Firefox too.

I like Download Statusbar -- shows you the progress of your download without popping up another window.

I also like the bit.ly preview, which helps you be a little more intelligent about shortened links

For the nerdy types, Aardvark is cool. You can selectively delete parts of webpages pretty easily. Handy if you're printing out something and want to delete the ads from the side of the page, etc. I also use it for webpage coding, to see what part of the CSS a page it using, etc. Pretty neat tool w/ lots of possibilities

Oh, and Adblock Plus

I hope I interpreted your question correctly...
[edit] all of my links go to the info page also, not to an installer.

@perkalicious11: That is correct. Thanks for the additions.

I use a host of browsers to test anything, although my personal preference falls to Firefox as well. One of my personal favourite methods of testing out add-ons and extensions though is to run them on portable browsers - see portableapps.com...

I regularly use Adblock, Download Statusbar, and haven't tried bit.ly, but I hear that it's get... My new offerings to the table are:

Flashgot - I love this one for its ability to pull virtually any media block off of a page without my having to search code for it.

FireFTP - A decent FTP client that incorporates a variety of FTP proxy protocols, so it's nice for server-side use.

Easy YouTube Video Downloader - Great for a variety of file-type rips.

Firebug - Great coding/developer pack, so I don't have to pull up a WYSIWYG.

Adblock Plus is amazing.

Fast Dial has helped me so much- Adds a button that when clicks redirects you to a page with boxes showing you any favorite sites that you have chosen (I'm bad at explaining things, so here it is- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5721/) This is probably my favorite add on...

Edit: Reload Every (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115/) can be useful for wootoffs. It automatically reloads the page.

I try to like Firefox... and sometimes I do... but it tends to get locked up and buggy with me. So I go back to chrome. But I do wish I could use Firefox a lot, and I have to sometimes, when I use Zotero (http://www.zotero.org/, which is probably only useful if you need to make citations in papers...

But I'm not knocking Firefox -- more power to you if you can get it working. As they say, de gustibus non est disputandum.
