The sexy tag is an effort to make deals.woot better for everyone. It will allow users specifically seeking those items to more readily be able to identify them and those who don't want to see them to filter them out. A good example of the latter are people at work or with children around. It also helps make deals more accessible via the advanced search feature.

I believe your deal was reviewed and the tag was removed, though. The sexy tag is new and we're still working out some kinks.

@gatzby: Thank you for your prompt reply. It appears the "sexy" tag is also handicapped like "lingerie", meaning it takes more votes, clicks, etc. to make the Popular tab. Is this handicapping system done for the same reason? Meaning items are deemed by the moderators as "sexy" or "lingerie" to prevent them from becoming popular because some members of this community who shop at work only look at the Popular tab?

Hi Ocheri. I like your site and find nothing offensive with what you have put up there. However, the perception of "sexy" is (as in real life) in the mind and eyes of the beholder. I think before a post from a loyal person such as you, the question could come up for opinion over here rather than a prementory strike. Or it should be (and maybe it is altho I doubt it) looked at by a couple of the people who judge such things at deals.woot.com. Seems that a lot of things are hit or miss. No offense intended to the PWTB but merely an observation from a regular.

@klozitshoper: I appreciate your kind words. Like you said, different people find different things sexy and is a very objective label to put on a deal. Many people find shoes to be sexy, for example, yet I've never seen a pair of high heels tagged as sexy. If not for the handicapping system recently put in place the tag itself wouldn't bother me. In this specific deal I did question the tag and it was removed. In my opinion it's not a proper tag for a moderator to choose but we all know what they say about opinions :-)

@ohcheri: It's possible that it's weighted, but I do not know -- that's not my decision to make. And, given the nature of it being new and in flux, anything I say now could change by tomorrow. =)

We're trying to take a more objective view of the concept of sexy. It's generally safe to say that a pair of shoes isn't going to be especially titillating to most of the world at large, but a poster of a busty lady or chiseled hunk? Yup.

That said, there are bound to be grey areas. If you think something is tagged wrong, let us know!

if there's a rise in their levi's, it's sexy.

I find all this talk about sex, sexiness, and lingerie is offensive.

I read the deals.woot forums with my kid while at work, and find this topic highly inappropriate. While there are no smaller-than-a-postage-stamp sized images that I must use my magnifying glass to examine closely, I'm afraid of the negative affect these words will have on the community.

I also see other words like "busty" "chiseled" and "hunk" being used here. My 3-year old is confused by such words, even after I do an image search for these things on the Internet and show related pictures to her in order to explain what they are.

But the line was absolutely crossed at the use of "titillate." Have the moderators lost all control of these forums, or is deals.woot now specializing in peddling this type of soft-core pornography?

For shame, Deals.Woot. For shame.

@gatzby: I can definitely see why people would think this is is sexy:

Seriously? @jumbowoot I think someone is overly zealous with the sexy tag.
