@moondrake: That's a good one. When I was at Camp Pendleton, they had a Ton of families come and adopt a Marine for Thanksgiving and treated us to a great meal and great company.

festivus. I've got a damned long list of grievances to air, and it'll take at least a whole day every year.

Isn't Easter a national holiday? Or are you referring to a day-off-from-work holiday?

Black Friday - no one should have to pretend to work while they are shopping

I don't know if it's non-controversial but I'd like to see Patriot's Day (9/11) turned into a national holiday and only a little bit because it's also my birthday.

We could make Armed Forces Day on May 19th a national holiday and celebrate our folks in uniform. We have an enormous military base (I have been hearing that it's now the world's largest US military base) so that could be great here. We could make a community partnership where people could take a soldier out that day and treat them to a restaurant and a movie or a home cooked dinner. There's a program to do that for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I think it would be very special if the whole purpose of the holiday was to thank them for their service.

@90mcg112: that's another reason to support Pi day! 3/14!

Monday after the Superbowl.

Realistically, though, there is a major hole in holidays between February and May. So, adding one in late March or early April would be a nice way to break up the stretch.
