I want to be, how can I swing it?!?

vote-for2vote-against

I've been looking for a code as well.

Most of the ones I have seen online are not valid anymore.

vote-for2vote-against

Got a code through Klout. Its awesome.

vote-for2vote-against

I want to try it. Is it only on Facebook? If so I can't use it.

vote-for2vote-against

I signed up for an invitation using two different email addresses over a week ago.

I still haven't gotten an email from them. I've seen walkthroughs (like this one: http://lifehacker.com/5821234/how-to-get-spotify-free-without-an-invite) about how to trick your way in, but I've read some accounts of it resulting in having a cap on how much music you can listen to each month. If that's the case, I'd rather wait for an official invitation from the site.

But I will be on Spotify. Soon, hopefully.

I found a way to get an invite code.

Request one from Britney Spears: http://www.spotify.com/us/britney-spears/

I requested one earlier today and just got my invite. I then had a friend try it and they got one just a few minutes ago. No guarantees that this one is still active though.

It sounds like a pretty crappy service to me unless you pay

vote-for2vote-against

@hackman2007: I went to your link and did get an invite. However, once I downloaded the .exe, it would not install.

Any advice for me?

vote-for2vote-against

@nephrectomy1: Not really, but try re-downloading again and maybe from a different browser. I had no problems installing it.

@iggz: It's not crappy at all. In fact, pretty cool. You can even have it play the local files on your computer. I haven't encountered any major problems with it yet.

Signed up for it a few days ago, no invite yet. Saw the Lifehacker write up yesterday but will just wait till it goes nationwide.

@hackman2007: Thanks for the link. I received an invite and was able to install then sign in.

@nephrectomy1: I'm not sure what OS you're running, but if it's any help, this laptop is an old XP install.

Got my invite from britney spears and listening to free music now. This is great. I already want to sign up for the premium service so I can get it on my phone.

vote-for2vote-against

@hackman2007: Thanks for the link, I just asked Britney for an invite a second ago - she's thinking about it.

I haven't heard much about this, but you guys seem to think it's good enough to give out real e-mail addresses, so I'm in.

@woothulhu: You'll need an invite code. I spent an hour on Twitter realtime search and a Google search for recent stuff, and finally found a working one on an obscure forum. Alternatively, several artists have some invitations set aside (I got another one from Talib Kweli pretty quickly).

vote-for2vote-against

@hackman2007: Yeah, you have to realize that a hundred other people are online scouting for codes. You have to put some effort into finding one.

vote-for2vote-against

@wickedd365: No, not affiliated with Facebook.

vote-for2vote-against

@iggz: It's not crappy. It's the best music player of any kind that I've ever used.

It's solid, uses a very small amount of system resources, and is incredibly fast. And the library is huge. I guarantee you'd like it if you tried it.

Went to: http://www.spotify.com/us/amanda/
...had the invite in my inbox the next morning. Not Bad but I get a lot of hissing and other noises.

vote-for2vote-against

I signed up yesterday and received invite last night. Created the account this morning and so far it is great and I am only using the free version right now.

Better than any other I have tried so far.

vote-for1vote-against

Well I scored an invite, so we'll see.

vote-for3vote-against

The sound quality is horrible, after 6 mos. you have to start paying, all of the wonderful songs that were included when I installed the software were gone this morning when I re-opened the program. I am, however, impressed by the effectiveness of their "invite only" only marketing scam, er...campaign. I'm still giving it a chance though. Mom always said I was half-smart.

vote-for2vote-against

sound quality is the same as a 128kbps mp3. Meaning the average user won't notice if it's good or bad. Everything I added to playlists when I installed is still there after restarting my pc today. 10 million+ users in Europe already, and they have deals with most of the (major) record labels already.
the company is valued at over $1 billion, and they just secured $100 million from new investors. So far, they seem to be doing everything right, and they're keeping everything legal from the start, unlike other services which have run into problems.

After only a few hours of use, I'm starting to like it.

vote-for1vote-against

@kamikazeken: 128 is pretty low when you're used to 320

vote-for1vote-against

320? does anybody use that any more? I did, years ago, but I stick with v0 right now for mp3's.
