Internet thing. The $50 I save going to the stores is not worth the risk I put myself through.

In total agreement with @eraten. The life you save might be your own.

I'll probably go out at a more sane hour, 8AM at the earliest. We've done the early-early stuff the past few years but this year the chains are all ruining it by starting on Thursday. I don't support that at all.

But, Wal-Mart especially, and some others too, have some all-day or at least until-noon deals that are usually worth being there for.

I'll be in line at Half Price Books for their 7am opening. The past few years I've gotten there about 6:30 and had no problem being one of the first 100 through the door. It's a used bookstore, so it's not like they're selling the hottest new, well, anything. But it's fun and the sale is pretty good. And, by the time I'm done there it's usually the sweet spot where all the hard core in line all night shoppers are headed home and the don't want to deal with the hard core crowds group hasn't gotten out yet (and I'm one of those freaky morning people, so I'm going to be awake anyway), so I hit a few other stores, all of which are usually fairly quiet and head home before lunch.

For a couple things I'll go the internet route as it's less stressful and there will be a higher chance of success. I've had good experiences venturing out after the crazy crowd has stopped for breakfast (like 6-9) and will probably hit up some places for the not so "hot ticket" items like discounted movies and such

Staying in; did it years ago, and vowed never to do it again. Not worth the aggravation. Paramus NJ, the shopping capital of the country, is worse than a Freddy Krueger nightmare...
