I own two acres and it's on my two acres.

vote-for6vote-against

Mine is only about 200 ft. from my front door. Pretty accurate here!

vote-for10vote-against

Pretty good, but it's all depending on the zoom level. All the way, it's in front of the driveway but further out even a little bit is a whole other story!

vote-for9vote-against

The street number is incorrect. The photo is perfect. My home. It's hidden by my judicious planting of shrubs, etc. on a berm. Yes, I value my privacy. Yes, I'm an admitted hermit.

And yes...this is the 2nd answer I've given since I announced I was 'leaving' here. Obviously, I lurk. Sometimes I feel the need to respond. This is one of those times.

TMI? Of course it is. ;-) Other TMI: In the 2 weeks since I said, "Who Cares," I have fallen from No. 1 to No. 27, and back up to No. 24. One response to a question; NO other voting/actions at all. Does that tell anyone something? No? Then you don't see the manipulation that I see. :-/

OP: Please forgive my digression. If not that; ignore me.

vote-for6vote-against

The balloon is dead center on my rooftop. And it's a more recent picture than the last time I looked myself up on there. This current pic was taken last summer, May or June 2012.

vote-for10vote-against

@gmwhit: Do you wear tin-foil hats in your seclusion?

Just askin...

vote-for3vote-against

@gmwhit: Ummmmm.....maybe I should have worded my question differently. I guess I should have asked if your street # matched your house photo. ♥

vote-for6vote-against

The ex-GFs car is parked right in front of my house with the balloon in my driveway...

vote-for6vote-against

The balloon is in my backyard and it shows the shed that I put up about 2 years ago, so it is no more than 3 years old, but I cannot be more specific than that.

vote-for9vote-against

@jsimsace: Silly you. Of course you asked the question properly. I, on the other hand, answered improperly. And elaborated; totally off topic.. As is/was usual for me.

@mtm2: No hats. Used to joke about that, though. :-/ As someone very dear to me (@shrdlu) has said over and over again...Things change. Always.

I do not like/accept the changes. "Hats" do not help here. Nothing does.

vote-for4vote-against

It's in my backyard, around 50 feet from where I am right now.

vote-for4vote-against

We live on a corner lot, and the balloon is in the intersection of the two streets that go by my house. My car is in the driveway. I'm going to wager that the image of our neighborhood was from 2011 because the garden was never that green last year, and I didn't buy the car until June/July of 2010. (Another reason I know it's not from last year is that there is no evidence of the garage the people who live in a house on the next block put up last year.)

vote-for4vote-against

it's a little blurry, but looks to be hitting the compost bin on the back yard.

vote-for5vote-against

I live in an apartment building. In what I believe (hope) is a coincidence, entering my address in Google maps and zooming in all the way puts the icon right on top of the window of my own apartment.

vote-for5vote-against

@kcostell: Put in a different apt# and see if it moves.

vote-for4vote-against

@kcostell: I live in an apartment building and the same thing happens for me; I don't get just the building I'm in, I get the apartment itself. Like you, I sort of hope it's just a coincidence. I'm going to try the "different apt. no." suggestion and see what happens.

vote-for4vote-against

I live in an apartment building, also. The icon points to the apartment office, even if I add my apartment number.

vote-for22vote-against

It's right on top of my home. But, when I go outside, I don't see it.

Very tricky, Google... very tricky.

vote-for4vote-against

My "balloon" is in the middle of the road, in front of a parking lot. Off by several hundred feet.

vote-for5vote-against

It lands exactly on my lot and shows my house. Based on the vehicle in the driveway, what's planted in my neighbor's yard, the height of our front hedge, and the location of our garbage can, I can tell the photo was shot around 10am on a Wednesday, probably in May or June about three years ago.

Spooky, hmm?

vote-for4vote-against

@gertiestn: Well? Did the balloon move when you changed apartment numbers?

vote-for3vote-against

The balloon isn't even on the correct street. It's at an intersection a couple of blocks away. Of course, my house is shown as an empty lot, which it was 2 or 3 years ago when the photo was taken.

vote-for3vote-against

The balloon is smack dab in the center of the house. It's in the same location at all magnifications, as far as I can tell. So, perfectly accurate for me.

vote-for5vote-against

The balloon is roughly in the center of my property, which puts it about 450 feet from my house (we live on 30 acres of forest). Odd that the balloon is not on the street but really, better than I had expected for a rural area.

I'm glad to see that the directions that Google generates are much improved now. It used to direct drivers onto a mud logging road to reach my house instead of the paved two-lane county road that goes by my driveway. Several times in the past we got frantic phone calls from delivery people who had followed Google's directions and nearly got stuck in a mud hole.

vote-for3vote-against

Depending on the view and how close it is to my home it is never more than 10 to 15 feet away from it and on some views it is exactly on it.

vote-for3vote-against

@kmeltzer: said "It's right on top of my home. But, when I go outside, I don't see it."

That's really strange I can see the one over my home. ;)

vote-for4vote-against

It's over my garage. What's strange though, is that the satellite view is from within the last 2 years, but street view is from over 3 years ago. (The color of the house was changed and some large trees were removed then.)

vote-for3vote-against

@thumperchick: Much like you my satellite view was within the last year but my street view was about 3 years ago. We started construction on our house in August 2010 and the street view is an empty lot.

vote-for4vote-against

@thumperchick: why is that strange? did you expect the street view pic to be taken at the same time as the satellite view?

no1 no1
vote-for3vote-against

The balloon is in my dining room.
Street view was added to the site around the end of 2012. Looks like they must have drove by last Summer (June-August 2012). That goes to the edge of my driveway.
Very accurate.

vote-for3vote-against

@no1: Not at the same time, but several years apart is odd to me, because the street view looks like nothing like my house or property.

vote-for2vote-against

It sits on my mailbox. I live about 2 miles from there, but there is no way MAPS could know that since I have a VERY LONG dirt road through the woods that leads to my house and the mailboxes are the address that the Post Office would have. No GPS I have ever seen has the road. I even had to petition the Government to give me 911 service since the road is private. This is the country.
