My Sansa Fuze Refurb...it's dyin'. Please help me save it, techies of Woot?
Refreshes constantly. Took out Micro SD. Refreshes still.
Even on lock, I move and it stops playing the U2 song I was listening to.
The battery went first. Now, after months of non-use, it works.
The unit gets hot. Very hot. Won't even shut off. Controls non-responsive as I write this.
She's a refurb from 1SAD...from Oct 2010.
Can I open it up and fix before I have to junk it? I like voiding warranties!
Thanks.
Have you done a factory reset on it?
@jcl945: I will try one. I know the Sansa forums too. Thanks.
@jcl945: is on to something there, I read that that worked for several users w/the exact same problem. Good luck reviving it, my sansas are good friends.
Warranty, warranty, we don't need no stinking warranty!
Avoid opening it up... Do that only before you are ready to throw it in the trash. It has a very tight cable connecting between the pcb and screen. The clip for that cable will snap with the slightest touch. It's possible to open it, but pretty risky. I broke one the first time but got it when I opened another. Not sure that would be of any benefit here anyway.
Force it to shut down by holding the power button up for approximately 10-20 seconds or until it responds. That will do that trick no matter how frozen it is, in my experience.
