No guns. Long time rule. Sorry.

Not saying it's right or wrong, just the way it is.

Guns are CONSIDERABLY harder to control and regulate. To my understanding, woot just doesn't want to get involved in the potential confusion/ paperwork.

Especially if someone buys a gun and then uses it to shoot someone. Victim's family will definitely try and hold woot at least partially responsible.

There's just so much legal red tape and potential problems that it's not worth it for woot. And I'm inclined to agree with that.

Bacon Good ..... Guns Bad

@thedogma: The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections.

@okham: You would think a Texas based site would allow guns

@dpn0121: I thought Amazon was based in Seattle

@colonelpuffpuff: That's is true now but amazon sells some ammo.

@colonelpuffpuff: Yes, but Amazon didn't invent Woot. Woot was started, and still maintains its main HQ in, Texas. Amazon bought Woot a little while ago, which I think is the reason for the Seattle office.

@thedogma: I think the basic idea there is correct, but its a little overstated. I don't think woot is concerned with wounded family members suing them, I think they are just concerned with people trying to bypass state gun laws through websites that might be posted here. It's a highly regulated industry and I agree woot doesn't want to invest in it (because it would take time, money, people).

I like that it stays up for a half day or so. Gets some people the oppertunity to buy it.

@meh3884: haha yeah. that whole bit is just the law student in here leaking out :)

@dpn0121: Wasn't that your deal I posted on and explained this? I'm almost positive it was.. 00 12gauge I think?

Funfact: They also got retroactive and deleted ALL gun/ammo deals.. my posted deals catalog shrunk one day all of a sudden lol.. confused me for awhile.

@thedogma: To the best of my knowledge, Woot has absolutely no involvement in any user posted deals, so I don't think firearm regulations would come into play at all.
If they were worried about that stuff, knives, self defense stuff (pepperspray, CS gas, stun guns, batons, etc) would most likely go by the wayside too. Not to mention they actually sponsor self defense deals.. just recently they had that stun gun/flashlight - which runs into state laws and regulations.

I know for at least a small part it's personal. A couple days ago a guy got a QUESTION about which rifle he should buy deleted by a mod.
(Thought that was kind of wrong. I get the "no deals" thing, but that bothered me.)

Could be completely wrong though :D
