I am a big fan of adding a poached egg to the chicken Ramen.

Another good one is undercooking the Ramen and adding taco meat it (go with picy flavored for this one), although taco meat may be a bit harder than an egg to come by in the dorms.

i second adding an egg but i do mine egg-drop style. let the ramen boil, crack open the egg and introduce it slowly into the pot while you turn with your fork. keep it moving or else you'll get chunks. it should be broken up pieces of stringy egg.

also try whole or cut up hot dogs
also try placing a slice of american cheese in your serving bowl before pouring in
you can play with the water levels to find your ideal seasoning strength

@promyst: I can't do ramen anymore as it's a reminder of harder times, but adding a can of tuna to mac n cheese makes great tuna-noodle casserole, or adding browned ground beef.

@promyst: yes. pasteurized processed cheese, Kraft or generic. i used those over real cheese since it would melt better, where real cheese would stay at the bottom and be clumpy.
place the slice in your bowl, pour the completed ramen over it, take your fork flat across the bottom of the bowl and scrape back and forth to mix the cheese in.

or instead you can try shredded real cheese on top mixed in a bit, or parmesan sprinkles on top

@woothulhu: Nice! I think I could pull that off by making Easy Mac then adding half a can of tuna. That should be really easy to make.

My fav is a Ramen Cabbage Salad, using the uncooked noodles as a crouton like addition and the flavor packet as part of the dressing.

Try this recipe, we love it, eat it all summer. You don't even have to cook the noodles. Keeps well in fridge too, must leave overnight at least, for noodles to soften.

Although this calls for canned chicken, I make it w/leftover deli chicken too. And I usually use a bagged slaw mix. I also use sesame oil, instead of the other oil, and leave out the sesame seeds.

When I am really lazy I make it right in a zip-lock bag, and then there's nothing to wash. In fact, for dorm life, and while camping, you can mix tuna salad, pancake mixes etc. right in a bag too. Be sure zipper is secure and knead around til mixed.

As much as I don't recommend any of these food....sigh I appreciate your plight (I teach at a university and can appreciate the students' struggle).

The EASIEST way to make a ramen appetizing...is to add a few drops of sesame oil. You have no idea how much better that would smell. Also, dump a frank in the water while you are cooking the ramen to heat it up at the same time. So much for lazy cooking! :)

Eat veggies, young padawan, it's good for you. :)

Canned chicken and/or frozen vegetables (to make a complete meal). Undercooking the ramen then frying it is pretty classic Hawaiian (at least the Hawaiians I lived with during college).

so many - but let me share a ramen DON'T!!! do not, i repeat - DO NOT - put ramen noodles in the microwave unless you are POSITIVE you have water in the bowl!! my kitchen still smells and my 12-year-old is banned from ramen noodles!!

Make Ramen, add single slice wrapped cheese (as mentioned about) and a few squirts of Srirachi rooster sauce, mix it all up so the cheese melts and everything's mixed together. Great stuff. Go easy on the rooster sauce until you find a good amount to use for your own spice comfort level

I still make ramen occasionally - I always drain it though. One thing I recently found - right before it is finished cooking, toss in a handful or two of raw spinach, so it gets blanched but not thoroughly cooked. Tasty AND nutritious.
