Bug: Sort By Votes Not Working
I've tried both deals and questions. When I click on "sort by: votes", it seems to actually sort by newest comment.

I hate this kind of answer, but it's working for me. What browser, what OS, please be reasonably specific.
@shrdlu: Dagnabbit. Happening in both FF 3.5.5 and IE 7 on Windows XP Professional.
@anotherhiggins: I'm stumped. It works for me with IE7 and XP, with Mozilla 1.7.11 (don't ask) and XP, and (brace yourself, it's an outlier) FreeBSD 6.{mumble} with Firefox 2.{somethingorother}.
I'm going to go try Vista and some others next.
@anotherhiggins: It also works (for me) on Vista and Firefox (I didn't try Vista and IE, since the Vista machine is used for some other things, and the IE isn't patched).
Having absolutely no feel for your tech knowledge, please forgive these suggestions (in no particular order, even though I know they're numbered).
1- consider rebooting a computer, after clearing the cache on your browsers
2- if you are browsing from work (I know, I know) check your settings to see if your local administrator has changed anything
3- When you say you tried both browsers, I expect that was the same machine. Can you use a different machine to test your account?
4- Log all the way out of Woot (different solution than rebooting), close your browsers, count to 10, open them, and log back in.
@shrdlu: No need to apologize - as you said, you don't really know if I know my way around a computer. As it happens, I kinda do.
Before posting I tried this on both of my computers at work with the same results. After clearing the cache and restarting FF I figured it probably wasn't just me, so I started the thread.
I actually moved to a different office on the other side of the building this afternoon - my point being that both of my computers were shut down, unplugged and stayed off for a while. I just got everything up and running and just tried again - I'm still seeing the same results.
I'll try at home later tonight (on a win 7 machine that I built recently).
@anotherhiggins: I'm hoping you see this in the next few. I'd love it if you'd make a quick account on woot, flush the browser and its danged cookies, get out of the browser, get back in, log in with the new account, and see if the problem's still there. I still haven't tried with any apple products (I have four browsers on my mac laptop), but I think it's something else going on.
It's very odd that (so far) it seems to affect just you, hence my request for a new account for you.
@shrdlu: Hi there - just ducked in to check at home before heading back out. It happens here, too.
I have tried visiting the page without being logged in at all, and I have cleared all cookies along with the cache and all the other options in FF.
I guess it is just me - so a new account makes sense. I'll let you know.
@anotherhiggins: There is one other, odd, possibility. Please note that your account is back up to 100/100. This is a variable that will not be there when you create your new account, and I am stating this now so that I don't forget it. You are the ONLY person, EVER, that I have seen on Deals that has 100/100. Many of us have it at our reputation at the top of the page, but not as a poster (I understand that they are computed differently).
Although this is completely grasping at straws, it is the only unusual thing about you or your account that I can think of.
@anotherhiggins: when you posted this I bug I had actually figure out that you mean inside a thread, right? But you are correct in a thread/post you can't sort by most votes. YOU didn't give us enough information, but I was bright enough to figure out what you meant by deductive reasoning.
@shrdlu: Well, I guess it's time to grasp at straws.... But not that one, apparently.
I've once again cleared all cookies, cache, etc. from fire fox, created a new account and tried again.
I even logged in with the new account on Safari and Chrome, both of which I just downloaded to this computer for the first time, and I still get the same results.
I'm starting to wonder if I'm just doing something embarrassingly stupid.
Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing. You can see that I have Votes selected but the posts are not sorted by votes. This screenshot was taken while logged into a brand new account on Safari:

@hobbit: Wow - still a little pissed, eh?
I now see what you mean.
But, unless I'm mistaken, you'll only ever see "Sort by: votes" inside a particular thread. If you are looking at the fresh tab for deals or questions, it says, "sort by: most votes". The word "Most" is omitted when trying to sort comments.
I checked and saw that the wording is different depending on context before starting this thread, but I should have explicitly stated that I'm having problems sorting comments within threads, not when sorting all deals/questions.
I'm glad you were clever enough to discern the meaning of my ambiguous post. +1
@anotherhiggins: Dammit. Hobbit's right. I misread what you were saying, and it IS a bug. We wasted all sorts of precious time working at odds on the problem. Newest (in the post) works. Oldest (in the post) works. Votes USED to work (as in, if you clicked on Votes, it sorted comments from high to low. I can't say when it stopped working, but I'm going to repost this question, so that it will get attention (because I'm sure that the age on it is getting on, and they've got a 24 hour window, and then it will be gone, baby, gone).
Don't you repost it, because it runs the potential of being deleted as a duplicate (they've got at least one overactive moderator).
@shrdlu: I hate miscommunications. But at least we've got it sorted out now. I should have posted a screenshot earlier - that would have cleared things up.
@anotherhiggins: Screen shot would have done it instantly. Good catch, by the way. I was using this a bunch during the Beta test (for my own nefarious purposes, or else to see who other people thought made the most sense, where a thread had many comments).
It used to work, and now it's busted.
Go vote up the other question, so it'll hit popular. See you over in the other question (thanks @hobbit).
@shrdlu: sorry I was busy at work and forgot to respond earlier when I figured out what he meant, which was really right away.
@anotherhiggins: you get what you give
Thanks to everyone for finding this... should be working now.
@josefresno: Thanks for letting us know.
