What do you think about the new Markdown link support?
We just added support for inline style Markdown links. http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax#link
It works like: [text](url here "optional title")
So you can link to things like this: Microsoft Touch Mouse

Thank you @ShawnMiller @Snapster @Brutherford @JoseFresno @JumboWoot and all the rest, you all work hard for us and I for one appreciate it all.
Awesome, have much anticipated this coming our way some day. You make me happy enough to do my happy dance.
@crapinmybagfromwoot: dude, don't forget @josefresno
@theoneill555: Thanks, my mind is mush right now.
Thanks to the woot staff. You guys are also righteous dudes and dudette's.
Sweet!
Any chance we'll be get to do boldface (or some equivalent) so we can emphasize coupon codes and the like?
@heymo: Yep. We're going to try the links out for a while, but other Markdown features will be coming.
EDIT: Eh?
@pinchecat: It looks like you're missing a closing quote.
LOVE IT
Now I get it I was rushing and didn't read the instructions
@electricemu: indeed I was...that's what I was editing to add when it broke. did y'all fix it?
i see someone nuked my bug-fix question so i hope that's the case. :)
Okay, I'll bite...I understand what is going on, but I also don't. I see that you can click on hyperlinks that look like normal words, but how do you create them? And why? I will add that I have no HTML knowledge except a VERY basic understanding of it.
@jsimsace: put these things together without a space between the brackets and parentheses...
[Banana Phone] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5C6X9vOEkU "CELLULAR MODULAR INTERACTIVODULAR")
and get...
Huevos Rancheros
The best I've ever had!!
Love it! Thanks everyone! :)
This will make it so much easier for me to spam!
@coolphilip04: what kind of webcam is that? Freakin' penguins don't go to bed at 5 PM PST and otters don't hit the sack at 3:30 PM PST either.
This is cool, and will be useful. I hope it isn't abused.
Want a wireless 360 controller for $37 from Amazon.com?
Seeing if it still auto-corrects referral links.
edit: It does!
It's a nice toy, and entertaining, but I'm trying to understand what I'd use it for. Probably if I spend more time posting deals, I'd see instantly why I would want it.
What the heck, though...if @heymo thinks it's cool, that's good enough for me. (no, not sarcasm, just pointing out a benchmark)
@shrdlu: /me kicks the dirt
Aw, shucks.
@pinchecat: Thanks for the tutorial. I tried it earlier today, but it linked to an earlier item that I tattled on...with your advice, I'll figure it out. Thanks again!
@shrdlu: My first thought would be shoving huge URLs (search queries, deals, etc) into a smaller visible package.
Plus, it's just good ol' fashion neato.

Also, on a related note..
@shawnmiller: I like it. I'm really likin' the stat box too - I've found myself going back to old deals that stuck out for one reason or another and checking stats heh.. provided me with a some entertainment.
This has been a good couple months for dev stuff/features.
(Is Q still in effect/updated? Anybody know?)
@drchops: Glad you like it. There's some really big stuff coming soon. Can't wait to show it to you guys.
@shawnmiller: I've used the function a few times now, primarily to alert folks to check out another deal that has been posted for example here-- a single coupon code can be applied to more than one deal. And what I've noticed is that the link color doesn't stand out enough from the regular black text-- especially when the pale yellow mouseover highlighting is in effect.
Maybe I need glasses, maybe I need a nicer monitor. Or maybe you could tweak the color setting in your CSS?
Hey. Used markdown in a question today to turn a long deals.woot link into something much shorter (the words "previous question"). However, there is no indication that the words "previous question" are a link (unless you hover over them... then they are underlined). (See http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/4e534204-1719-4aab-9bc5-10dc6734f9c1/any-suggestions-for-a-home-blood-pressure-machine-sphygmomanometer#5)
Is there some way to make such links a different color?
Thanks for any assistance.
Dude! Thanks. At first I thought you just fixed my question, and I came here hoping to see a hint as to how I can change the color or whatnot. But after I saw no reply, I noticed that the links in your question are also in red (or whatever) now, so I'm presuming that you fixed it in all questions.
