questionshow often do you put off buying a woot, and then…

Way too often. I missed the Dr. Who shirt the other day. I was totally going to buy it, then the day ended.

Alot during a woot-off. I try to do a quick research on the item and by the time i decied to buy its gone. Only happens with items I want. Other items sit there forever. There have been times I have missed woots because they have sold out over night.

i don't understand what is hoped to gain by waiting till later in the day to buy. it's still gonna get billed to your cc or paypal or whatever the same day. unless it's the hope of "oops. i forgot and missed it" so you don't get in trouble with the significant other

@luvche21: now I know you know this of course, but just in case there is a casual wooter who sees that they missed out on a Dr.Who Shirt: You can still buy it here

As you guys know, I can't say no if I have the money (or if I don't sometimes) But! I made the mistake of waiting too long once, back in 2009, for a stories of war dvd box set. I was so angry at myself I didn't check woot for another 2 years. The second time was much more pleasant and it was love at first woot.

I just had a very unsettling thought actually, I am worried how much money I would have spent on woot by now had they had more of those DVDs in stock and I didn't leave with bitter resentment.

This absolutely has happened with the weekly shirt sales. I mean, it is a whole week and you think I could untangle my brain long enough to remember since I work here but no. Totally happens.

@moosezilla: It's more like 'I'm kind of busy now but just happened to check woot'.

I've never missed a woot from having put it off for later. But I have been looking for something cheap to use my @jumbowoot coupon on. A couple months ago they had a great deal on band-aids but when i check it at 7:30 am it was sold out already.

I felt the same way about the habitrail on kids.woot yesterday!

vote-for3vote-against

Just often enough. Most of the time, if I need something then I buy it long before a deal shows up on woot. Woot mostly provides me with impulse buys. If I put it off to think about it longer and then it sells out I only think about the money I saved. No deal can compare to the money you save by not purchasing at all.

I missed the tetris board game, and the first aid kit 2 pack, and the laser tag... My wallet thanks me, but kid does not :)

@cowboydann: But being a forgetful slowpoke on my decision making, the shirt is now $15 instead of $12... it's even harder to talk myself into buying it right now.

@inkycatz: if it can happen to us, it can happen to anyone.

These days? Very rarely.

But a few years ago it happened quite frequently. Usually due to sellouts, not my forgetting.

@luvche21: That happened to me with a shirt during the last WootOff. I keep hoping it will be offered during the next one, and even though the few $ different won't break me, I'm here because I'm a bargain hunter (and love the community!) so I can't make myself pull the trigger on it at a higher price.

Having said that, I have delayed doing research and found items sold out by the time I got back to them (usually during a workday when people here expect me to do something to EARN money rather than just SPEND it). Also, I forced myself NOT to buy the Fleur de Sel Chocolate Covered Caramels because I still had a few left from the previous sale and I REALLY didn't need the calories. Now I find myself out of my special treats and they cost more than TWICE as much on the candy's website. Argh!

Pre-buyer's remorse gets the better of me at least once a week.

vote-for2vote-against

only once... I hesitated maybe 2 minutes and missed a deal.

vote-for6vote-against

@luvche21: FWIW, $2 of that extra $3 goes to the artist ... and it's stories like this that says to me "what's an extra few bucks, really?"

Relative Dimensions is still on the old USA-made blanks, so if you like it, I suggest buying it sooner rather than later.

@narfcake: wow, nice find. made me reconsider buying from the reckoning

I've found a variation on this that I've done over & over. One Woot-off, I ordered a two-pound slab of dry monterrey jack cheese from wine.woot. The stuff was stellar, amazing, beyond belief. Every Woot-off since, I've tried to come up with more, but I never have. The same company's regular jack is fine, but the dry jack is faaaaaaaaabulous. I monitor the wine site during woot-offs almost religiously now.

@gertiestn: We bought that same cheese. It was fabulous, and I'd wished we had bought more than one wedge.
