Who's got a tempur pedic ( or similar )?
Slept on a tempur pedic for a few nights and loved it.
Been needing a new one at home.
does anyone have one , what size and how much did it cost?
or a knockoff ( and how much was that ), how does the knockoff compare if you have tried both.

I've had a Tempur Pedic for 7 years and love it.
When it's cold it can be pretty hard so I use an electric blanket.
It really does mold to your body.
I have a queen size and I think it was around $ 1000.00.
I've had a genuine Tempur Pedic queen size mattress for about five years. It is just as comfortable today as it was the day it was delivered.
When I purchased it (from Sleepys), it was the second or third from the bottom in their product line, which had five or six levels at the time. I did not like the two or three mattresses at the high end because they had pillow-tops and seemed less firm to me.
It came with two large queen size pillows (the large refers to the height or thickness of the pillow, while the queen size refers to its width), a premium water-proof mattress cover, delivery and disposal of the old mattress. It cost about $1495 plus tax.
Thats Op. I have been considering the same thing. Did you all need a special bed frame withe Tempur Pedic mattress?
We have had a Tempur Cloud Supreme for about 2 years now. Just the right mix of soft comfort & firm support. We LOVE it. Although the initial cost may seem high, you will get a 20 year full warranty and a great night's sleep.
We bought a queen size tempur pedic knock off from Overstock.com 3 years ago and love it. I actually don't feel like I'm fully rested unless I sleep on a memory foam mattress.
We bought it on sale for around $300, and it's about 14 inches thick. Fantastic, I love it, never going back.
Thanks to all who replied. The opinions appear to be mostly positive. My only experience was with a pillow, and I was not blown away with it. However, after dealing with injuries and now arthritis, I am seriously rethinking mattresses. My current mattress has a foam top and it still looks very good, but I am less comfortable when I get up in the morning. I think there was a recent question with answers on here - will go check - about the sleep number bed which I am also considering.
I have a knockoff that I bought from Sam's Club, paid about 500 for it , wouldn't trade it for the world.
I will address the question about supporting the mattress, you cannot use a normal box spring with a foam mattress. You will need a solid 'box' (read: box spring with no 'spring'). Platform beds work great.
I have a posturepedic. I absolutely love it. Used to have bad back pain on the other mattress and within 2 weeks of the new mattress, I had no more back pain. Owned it now for 4 years and will probably never go back to a spring mattress.
I have the genuine Temper-Pedic, bought it due to a back injury and for the first time in 10 years, I wake up pain free. I spent a lot of time researching, testing, talking to people, etc. They are expensive, but worth it. I have the Cloud in a king and it set me back about $2000, bought it from Sleepys and got no interest for 2 years.
Worth it, 1000% yes.
As for knock off, what I can tell you from experience and those of friends/relatives, the knock off are memory foam, but have a short life cycle. You will never get the same support out of a knock off, but it may feel really good for a few years. 5 or 10 years down the road, you'll need to replace it. The temper-pedic have a 20 year gaurantee, if on day 7299 you get some sagging, they will replace it. Read the warranty b/c some stores, like Raymore & Flanagin, while they sell the genuine bed, have a lower grade warranty, I believe only 10 years full replacement on the 20 year warranty.
Another Overstock knockoff owner. We had to replace our frame after owning it for about a year, but we were able to get an inexpensive bed frame from Costco that works really well.
My wife and I both sleep on ours and it's a Cali King. It's extremely comfortable, but it quickly grew an annoying ridge down the middle of it. Because of that, each side is downhill from the middle.
I purchased one from Overstock a little over four years ago. I use it with a platform bed that I also purchased from them. It's still like new. I rotate (not flip!) the mattress 180° about every three months, which evens the wear.
A lot of the problems people have with these mattresses are caused by not having a firm enough support system underneath the mattress. Tempur-Pedic provides you with a box-spring replacement (they call it a foundation) so that their mattresses get the proper support. Most people buying mattresses from the Internet don't ever get a proper support base. The worst thing you can do to them is to put them on top of a traditional box-spring. That leads to the complaints you hear where both occupants roll into the center or off of the sides of the bed, and it can also result in the permanent "holes" where the people sleep. Once the damage is done, it's usually too late to fix things by getting the proper support...the mattress usually has to be replaced too.
Incidentally, Tempur-Pedic's warranty says (among other things) "This warranty does not cover damage from using an improper bed frame, foundation, or adjustable base."
So, if you don't buy their expensive foundation when you buy the mattress, your warranty is likely worthless. Even if you do buy their foundation, they have a lot of restrictions on what is considered a proper bed frame:
"A proper bed frame must provide sturdy support for both the mattress and foundation; including a center support and having at least 6 legs. For queen, king, and cal king slatted style bed frames, it is incumbent upon purchaser to ensure that the frame utilized offers ample structural support for that particular slatted style frame. Failure to have a proper bed frame may invalidate the warranty.
So, even if you buy their foundation, if your frame does not have a center support and at least six legs, your warranty is invalid. That shows how important a solid foundation is with memory foam mattresses.
@bkarlan: "Did you all need a special bed frame withe Tempur Pedic mattress?"
I had a queen platform bed before buying the Tempur Pedic, so I did not need anything special.
