Can you track the location where Eye-Fi cards upload their images?
I lost my camera recently, I'm really not sure where. It has an Eye-Fi card in it, whoever found the camera has turned it on and the camera automatically uploaded some pictures to my eye-fi program, I was wondering if and how I could find out where these were uploaded from.
Eye-Fi servers record the IP address in their logs. IP addresses can be traced backwards, to some limited degree.
First step is to contact the Eye-Fi customer service folks and see what they can tell you. Depending on what they will reveal, you can do records search for the IP owner, contact that provider and see what they will do.
If the camera is reported stolen, it is possible for law enforcement to compel the release of IP assignment at the time of the upload. That gives a starting point.
