Which is a better Christmas food staple: Egg Nog or Candy Canes?
Whether it's that oddly sweet and creamy drink or the funny shaped peppermints, there's no denying that Christmas time is upon us and two familiar faces are back. Which one is the more "needed" of the two to make Christmas for you?
why Candy Nog and Egg Canes, of course.
Egg Nog and buttery sugar cookies, of course.
Candy canes are a pretty decoration, but I don't like them as much as my kids do.
Egg nog for sure!
Peppermint bark
Also Egg Nog
Rummy rummy egg nog
or bourbon, that's ok too.
i'm gonna go with egg nog. while i also love candy canes, you can get peppermint candies year-round.
@j5 good call with the peppermint bark. i'm addicted to that stuff around the holidays.
I've been buying my Nog since October, when it first started showing up in stores this year.
I'm a egg nog man, all the way!
Candy Canes - especially in hot cocoa!
Egg nog. With nutmeg. Add brandy and/or bourbon as necessary.
Candy canes! Too many calories in egg nog.
Excellent question - I believe I'm going with egg nog since it is oh so delicious. Candy canes are pretty good too, and can be easily sharpened into a weapon which might give them the edge, but from a flavor standpoint egg nog all the way.
And with regards to peppermint bark - love it, make some every year as my signature gift, but haven't found a truly great way to smash up the peppermint pieces to put on top that isn't a pain in the ...
Fruit Cake!
I'll give the nod to nog, but I would rather have Reese's anything.
Candy canes. Nicely stripe-y and fun to both crunch and hang on trees. Also, I've found egg nog quality varies wildly.
Egg nog with bourbon, with a candy cane swizzle. Not a huge fan of candy canes alone, but they do make a good cocktail stirrer.
I'd prefer egg nog with kahlua :)
Well it's hard to beat eggnog because of the booze, but it's not really a treat the whole family can enjoy.
I vote candy canes as I greatly dislike eggnog. Definitely agree with @mtm2 regarding the candy cane-hot cocoa combo. I also like getting the various flavors of candy canes (strawberry, yum).
@mkdr: Have you tried breaking the candy canes into smaller pieces, putting them in a Ziplock-type bag, and then using a rolling pin to crush them? (Don't forget to seal the bag before crushing... much less messy.) ;)
Egg nog. But, since I hate mint, I'm never going to like candy canes.
