.....it was okay the first few times I heard it, but 8,000+ times later is enough.

I get the Elmo & Patsy song being on this list, but I really like the Dan Fogelberg song... although I don't think of it as a Christmas song.

I grimace whenever I hear Elton John's Step into Christmas.

Santa Baby. Just...too creepy. Even if it's about someone dressed as Santa (which I will forever believe).

Actually, this song is really hard to listen to as well:

Oh my goodness, this song gives me a headache.

@conanthelibrarian: its ! [randomword] (YouTubeLink)

Without spaces and don't forget the exclamation point.

I second the Christmas Shoes song! I HATE that one. I hate it only slightly more than the hippo one:

So many wonderfully BAD suggestions!

@nedreck: That's the one I would have posted. Funny once, maybe twice, but it's over now. Time to retire it and burn every copy anyone ever made.

@tarasadie17: I agree. Big Dan Fogelberg fan here (had some of his music performed at my wedding). And I think of that one as a New Year's Eve song, personally.

Somewhere, in a distant galaxy, an alien race examines broadcasts from our planet. They decide to make peaceful contact with us and share their technology, which includes advances in energy, transport, and medicine that will save countless millions of lives and bring in an era of unity, peace and happiness that will last many thousands of years. But then they hear "The Christmas Shoes" and decide not to bother after all.

@conanthelibrarian: This is the one. Followed closely by Christmas Shoes as @starblind noted. Awful.

"My Favorite Things" is something that always gets under my skin. It is NOT a Christmas song!

@u: That got downvoted, and the title is wrong, but it really is a real song:

It's terrible and tasteless but it's no Christmas Shoes.

I am always irritated by Jethro Tull's Christmas Song. I don't need some world famous musical artist chastising me for a lack of true Christmas spirit, thanks.

Ironically, my favorite Christmas song is probably Jethro Tull's Another Christmas Song, a beautiful song which really pulls at my Celtic roots.

I worked retail for a number of years. Christmas music was piped in the second after midnight Thanksgiving night. There were 6, count them 6 different remakes of "The &%$# Drummer Boy" played everyday all day. Thank you, corporate.... I heard that song at least 25 times a day for 6 weeks. Christmas music is never the same if you work retail...

@ratmotor: Yep, that's on the top of my list of least favorite songs. It gets stuck in my head and I can't get rid of it. I probably won't be able to sleep tonight!

I'm late to the party, but "Little Drummer Boy" is at the top of my list as well! I love Christmas, but I always hear the words "Oh no"! rattling around in my head when I hear it start.

@omnichad:

Now that I've thought about it..every year for the past 3-4 years at my parents work Christmas party, they would always have a professional Marilyn Monroe impersonator and it was always guaranteed that she would sing that song (and sit on old dudes laps).

After three or four repetitions, they all get to sounding bad. But the absolute worst was the barking dogs doing jingle bells. (The Kmart jingle bells is coming close...)

@prosperouscheat: Oh, wow. That's the definition of mawkish.

I'm not big on any of them, but this one serves as sort of an antidote for me. I enjoyed watching it almost as much as I did listening to it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/02/the-piano-guys-angels-we-have-heard-on-high_n_4373673.html

(sorry to go off topic with one that I like)

I guess it's funny, but I can't stand his stupid voice.

@maggie3052: I'll second that! I worked 10 Christmas' in the mall, and it is an entirely life-sucking experience even before they add 40+ hours a week of Christmas music. I have been out for 13 years, and am just now getting to where I can stand any of it again.

My vote for the worst that gets stuck in my head: "The Merriest"
