Since I live in central Florida, I'm not sad. ;-) All "Fall" means here is, perhaps, a lowering of the humidity & temps going down below the 90's. And that is a 'bit' refreshing.

Though there are trees here that lose their leaves, the vast majority of trees, bushes, shrubs, grass etc. stay green year round. Grew up in & lived in 4 season climates; don't miss that. Always hated the barren trees...the freezing temps, the snow, sleet..... I AM sad for those who live in cold climates and don't like it. Okay, I'll shut up now. :-|

TL;DR No. :-D

Nope, I'm making a pot of soup and baking a pie :)

We've had sun for 3 straight months here in Seattle so I'm sure as the weeks of clouds and rain roll in it will get old quick. But for now its OK.

As a person who hates hot weather and loves football, I have a two word answer for you: hell no

Sad? Not at all. I love fall! And, especially since I live in Texas, I don't mind winter. It gets a bit cold at times and there's usually an ice storm or two that make driving a bit tricky for a couple of days (or sometimes just a couple of hours). But it's sooooo much better than "I can't go outside without my bucket in case I start melting" summer weather.

I'm a little sad. Summer is my favorite time of the year because I love baseball and all the festivals, fairs and events. It doesn't get hot here and this summer was very mild. I am bummed because it's already cool enough to turn on the heater in the morning.

Fall is pretty, though, and I do like that crisp feeling in the air. I just don't like to be cold :(

Fall is my favorite season. Not sad at all.

Summer is hot and humid... has its advantages but also a PITA (electricity and thus A/C is very expensive).

Winter is cold and bleak, but overall is probably better than summer and certainly no worse.

Spring is pretty nice also, but I think I like Fall better overall.

WooooooHoooooo......FALL IS HERE!

...in case that was too subtle. Nope!

Fall is my favorite season, and I just finished up a fantastic summer, so today is actually a pretty great day.

only if the Great Pumpkin is a no show this year

Is the weather today so drastically different than yesterday that it makes you sad? That's kind of weird.

Decide for yourself that it will be summer for two more weeks. Why not? It's just a label applied to a list of days. The transitions between the seasons don't happen overnight. They happen over a period of months.

Be happy that you have the health to enjoy Summer and just ignore the calendar!

The Bleakwinox wont hit Texas until like mid - late October.

Are you kidding? I LOVE the cool weather. Especially now that I have a job that involves standing outside all day and running around. The Summer nearly killed me! Here's to Fall and Winter!

Love the fall colors, football, and the harvest fresh off the farm food but....not ready for the nights so cool already, short days and I have not finished (or even close) my summer to do list. I love the great warm days we had this summer!

Yes and no, I miss the hours of daylight, but love the cooler weather and rustle of the falling leaves.

God no. Phoenix is nasty until fall. It's still 105 and I'm waiting for that crap to break.

vote-for5vote-against

No sadness here....fall is a welcome break from +100° temps and approximately the same humidity.

If fall didn't lead to winter, I would probably enjoy it. As it is I spend most of fall dreading the approach of winter. I will probably enjoy fall for another couple weeks (as it feels like it has been fall here for two weeks already) and make all of my cold-weather food favorites. After that, it will be all missing the sun and the ability to go outside without bundling up, and regretting having to have the heat on in the house. So yes, I am sort of sad.

Fall is my favorite time of the year! Love the change of colors, and crispness in the air...the leaves on the ground -- it's beautiful!
Not to mention bonfires and pumpkin patches!

This situation always happen during the time of changing seasons, it's normal.

It always makes me very sad to see my trees putting their leaves away and battening down for winter. Very few leaves turn colors here, they just get brownish and drop, so we don't get the beautiful autumns like in cooler parts of the country. Even though it doesn't get very cold here, I still much prefer summer over winter. Keep a good thought for my mulberry tree. We had two rare freezes in the past two winters, and the one two years ago was catastrophic and killed probably half the plants in the city. The mulberry which dominates my back yard seemed to be okay last year, but started failing this summer and had to be pruned back to almost nothing. The tree service said to pray for it, because if we have another hard winter I am going to lose it. I lost three smaller trees already to the freeze, I can't stand to lose this one. It is literally the #2 reason why I bought this house.

@sunnyx0r: And the windows closed! I hate having to close the windows for months.

@moondrake:

Interesting. I grew up in NY City with hard freezes just about every winter. Never seemed to hurt our mullberry trees. I wonder if it is a different variety or what.

Pulling for your tree though. Hope it survives.
