Is it too late to put down grass seed in NC? If not, what brand should i use?

Is it too late to put down grass seed in NC? I'm in the Charlotte area and have a patchy tall fescue lawn.

If not too late then what brand should do you recommend?

Grassy or shady area? High traffic? It's only mid March, so I'd say no.

Front lawn is full sun on a slope and the patchy part of the back lawn is shady and flat and it's all on horrible NC red clay.

@prosperouscheat: I live right down the road in SC (in the Upstate) and because of this area's wonky seasons we stopped trying with specialty grass, like Kentucky Blue, and went with a resistant Crab variety. Prep your lawn and get those seeds in now and you will have success, just be sure to fork out some money for a water bill if we have another dry spring/summer. My area is still behind in rainfall for the last few years.

Thanks @xarous. I'm on a private well so I don't have to worry about paying for water - just hope it doesn't run out :-)

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?
