Maybe @thunderthighs or @Inkycatz can help.

If I am over including you two please let me know and I will lay off

slydon is not a mod, he is actually a writer with familiarity to NYC so asks some questions. He has put in an outstanding effort over there to try to get conversation going.

The official response has been if you have a market you would like to suggest click the "suggest a deal" button on the bottom left of the local deals listing and select "Suggest a city" from the drop down. Any suggested markets will be considered when they look to expand.

With that said my experience is local gets little to no traffic and has not been anywhere near as successful as they had hoped. I think there is a better chance of the current local cities disappearing rather then new markets being expanded into.

When Groupon stock goes up.

Unfortunately, as someone who lives near St. Louis - I have to say there's no community at all on local.woot. It's nice to have one place to browse the deals for all the sites, and even to search them. But there's nobody upvoting, downvoting, or commenting.

It's a shame, too, because it would be a great resource if it gained that sort of popularity.

the main issue is that a lot (most? all?) of the deals are simply plucked from other location based DoD sites like living social and groupon... If woot could arrange some exclusive local content (and something other than just restaurants :) ) - i could see if getting more attention.

It doesn't look promising.

@goatcrapp: Restaurants are fine with me. But it would be nice to know if the restaurants were worth visiting without resorting to Yelp.

And even being just an aggregate site is fine - there's a LOT of deals sites in St. Louis, and I would never subscribe to them all or visit all their web sites.

I hang out on the Seattle board and post local events. :) It's just that sorta thing I do. Would love to see more people though.
