Has any one else "lost time" playing video games?
So I bought Minecraft Sunday evening and started playing in Survival mode. I was having a good old time exploring and making a nice little place to live, etc. The next thing I know, it is 4 am! I had been playing for over 8 hours when it felt like maybe 2 or 3?!?! (luckily I was off from work on Monday)
Has anyone else fallen into the timewarp of a particular game?
Back when the Sims first came out, my roomates and myself would spend hours at a time living a fake life. What a waste of time.
The Civilization games do that.
Myst.
Lost pretty much a whole weekend.
I think I am going to set an alarm to limit my amount of gametime each time I play... Any more than 2 to 3 hours at a sitting makes me feel kind of guilty for wasting all that time.
Age of Empires
Star Wars The Old Republic, started playing 6:30am after putting the dogs out and when my wife got home from work at 4:30 was still playing. One month away.
@jeeperwoot Man, I used to play the heck out of that game too.
btw, does anyone else play Minecraft? there was a thread from a while back that was mostly a flamewar, rather than a real discussion...
Elder Scrolls
Medal of honor, American Army, AOE (mentioned above).
Ultima on the 8 bit NES.
Roller coaster tycoon.
Really any good game.
I remember the night I bought a Play Station 2. A buddy went with me when I bought it, then we hit BlockBuster to rent a few games.
We were probably back at my house by around 8 PM. After playing for what felt like about 3-4 hours the sun came up. I had to call out sick from work because I was going to be late anyway. we continued to play for a while longer.
We're talking about well over 12 hours straight.
Starcraft. Played for hours and before we knew it, it was 8:00 ... in the morning.
All the time, when I play online time just flies by.
I like playing FPS (BF3, MW3)
Some weekends I get very little done
When I first got Warcraft III I'd lose always be losing track of time.
My XBOX 360 broke and I was surprised to see how much time I gained from that.

I didn't sleep really well in high school so I would play Final Fantasies and Chrono Trigger for hours and hours. I can still get trapped in Sim games and more low-key RPGs, but I honestly don't have the gaming drive as much anymore. I like to play alotta L4D(2) when my friends and I have the chance though.
C&C:RA, Starcraft, BF2, BF:BC2, and now BF3. I regularly go to sleep at 2am because of these stupid games that I love to play.
@wootfast: Civ V for sure. And of course WoW back in the day.
Just got Assassin's Creed: Revelations at 11:00 am today. Had to go into work at 1:00 pm. Wound up 30 minutes late. But, bright side, my boss is a sorta gamer, so he understood.
Way back I would loose 8 or more hours at a time playing the original X-Wing on an Intel 486 IBM desktop...
A couple of summers ago My Nephew got me playing Gears of War with him... We started after breakfast and played until we defeated the big bad guy on the train at about 1 in the morning... Fortunately the XBox was in a finished basement and no one upstairs could hear us yelling and cheering all night...
In college, pretty much our entire dorm floor lost many a collective night or two to networked Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Hexen, and the ilk. And I'm pretty sure my sophomore year of high school was lost entirely to Castle Wolfenstein 3D.
Years passed, seasons changed and I waited. Then I rediscovered time loss with Grand Theft Auto IV -- great after-work therapy, you know.
Another multi-year break, and I became the last American to take up Rock Band earlier this year...
...Last I checked my watch, it was March 8.
Hmmm. Baldur's Gate (1+2), Starcraft (1+2), Deus Ex, Half Life 2, Neverwinter Knights, Knights of the Old Republic, Oblivion, Lumines (and Tetris, come to think of it), Chrono Trigger, FF7, Minecraft (yow, the time spent in that game!), any Zelda game, any Pokemon game....those are the ones that come to mind offhand. There have been many many more.
@scarabkafer: Yep. Minecraft. Waiting for Friday =)
@wootfast: hear hear. Just one more turn...and then it's 3AM and you've only discovered pottery.
