What is your upvote to downvote ratio?
I have no problem upvoting a decent deal/comment/question, but I will admit I have a hard time downvoting anything. If I do not agree I just move on without any vote. If I really disagree or the post is WAY off, then I will do the downvote and leave my comment. But I would say my ration is probably around 80/20 upvotes to downvotes.
You?
Mine is closer to 50/1.
Realistically? 200:1. I'm a positive kind of guy I guess.
@jsimsace: Me, too. I think I downvote like once a month, and I upvote every day. I generally only downvote when I feel the poster is being hostile.
I have never down voted a deal or question or comment so that part is zero. I either up vote or pass it by but couldn't guess on that ratio.
The last time I downvoted anything was a year ago. So now I have 100% upvotes, 0% downvotes.
I changed my philosophy on this. If I don't like the deal, I ignore it. If I like it, I vote for it.
If the deal is so horrible that I would normally need to downvote it, that means it's probably spam, counterfeit goods, etc. It requires a tattle instead. I will tattle and then make a comment about the tattle.
Many times I find a bad deal and I will still not downvote. Instead, I will post a link to a better deal and/or explain why it's not so good in the comments. For example, a slingshot that's free but is $4.99 shipping received a comment from me about the extra high shipping costs but still no downvote.
I have 1138 pages of upvotes and 17 pages of downvotes. So my ratio is 66.9:1. I think that's pretty positive.
Good question, it appears my ratio is about 100 up for every 1 down vote.
@cengland0: My ratio is closer to yours, but I didn't think anyone would believe me. :) Is a downvote a necessary option? Why not just abstain?
@okham: Never thought of looking at the pages, you sly fox. I have 483 pages upvoted to 3 downvoated. Thats gangster.
Officially, I have downvoted nothing. But I take the @moondrake approach to comments.
I have 142 pages of upvotes and only 2 items of down votes.
