Do you wait for woot-offs to buy a shirt you missed on its launch day?
Depends on how close to the woot-off it is.
I do.. when i'm lucky enough to have a coupon to use.
Yes I did, and missed out on two that I wanted because they had been reckoned already. Only one week each on the list. Boo!
During the woot-off shirt sale, artists receive only $1/shirt instead of $2/shirt sold, and the shirts sold don't count towards the Reckoning standings, so purchases don't help a shirt survive longer, thereby earning the artist more money.
So no, I don't buy shirts during the woot-off sales and I generally don't buy shirts on the first day either, because artists are paid a flat rate commission for first day sales and those purchases also don't count towards the Reckoning standings, just like woot-off sales.
Money is tight around here, but since shirts are a discretionary purchase anyway, I'd rather give up some other discretionary $3 purchase in order to contribute to the artists' livelihoods.
@bnbsouthworth: See, that's what I always worry about.
@neuropsychosocial: Sadly not all of us can be that conscientiousness about the profits and livelihood of the artists when making our purchase decisions. I adore the artists here (especially you, Ochopika, I <3 your designs so, so much) but frankly they know the deal when they sell a design to Woot.... and Woot already pays better than most similar sites out there.
I admire your selflessness neuropsychosocial, but I have no shame myself in waiting for the discounted Woot-off prices.
I did this time. I realized a few days ago I wanted Little Red Fighting Hood and decided to see if there would be a Woot-Off or a Jumbo Woot before it was reckoned. Today I got both, so my $7 shirt is on its way. . . in about a week and half.
@neuropsychosocial: I missed out on the first-day sale of the shirt I bought today because I didn't think I wanted it. I would [almost] never spend $15 on a t-shirt when I have so many dozens of them in my apartment. I'm on a budget and shirts are not a top priority.
If it wasn't on sale during a Woot-Off, I probably would not have purchased it at all, and then the artist would have made nothing from me.
No. I wait for random shirt days, then occasionally buy one(only with a JW coupon).
