questionsso, if @snapster started another deal a day site…

I think it'd be good...and yes, I'd hang out there.

I'd love it....but I wouldn't be surprised if he had to sign a "no-compete" clause when he left. :(

I doubt he could recapture the same "magic" when there are hundreds of deal a day sites out there now. I'd rather see him do something new and shake things up again.

Nope. Too late. All gone. @snapster is passe'. The non-compete clause ended (I think) when Zon took over. It was 2 years ago. And so..here we are. Languishing in the left-over carp (yes, I meant to say that) of a strangled, senseless game-playing joke. Am I sad; disappointed ? Well, yes. (Understatement)

Who can you trust? No one!

Oh well, yes. But you knew that, didn't you? <---rhetorical question. If you did not know...good luck to you.

Too late to add to my previous post. What A Fool Believes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDSLR9PVWxg. (Sorry, about the plain link; am not a slick geek. Care not.)

@gmwhit: You all are endorsing my original thoughts. I think that the time for the old Woot has come and gone. Maybe there is some way of catching that lightning back in a bottle, but I can't think of how. There are now deal a day sites all over the place, selling everything from knives to Jewish religious items. And the selling market has changed, so I don't think that you could things people would want to buy at a price significantly lower than is already being offered.

Another DaD is neither likely, nor needed.

Something fresh and new would be welcome, though.
Instead of deal a day, it could be a site of continuous "off-age"...maybe call it...SnapOff, inject a random goody-grab-bag to keep folks interested.

Nah.

How about a bandolier of carrots a day site? They could buy miscellaneous junk in bulk and parcel it out, making sure at least one in fifty or so had something really worthwhile in it. Encourage the people who got cool stuff to post to the forum to raise that whole lottery mentality.

The magic that got me in was the shirts. I don't think that's something that's able to be recaptured at this point - well, not at $10 a shirt anyway.

vote-for4vote-against

I'd try it, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be the "new old Woot"

vote-for9vote-against

@thumperchick: Strangely, shirts were NOT what brought me here, though it was a reason why I stayed.

At current costs, I can't foresee any new site offering daily shirts, printed on quality blanks, at the $10 price point, nor even at $12, shipped. An existing one that already has a strong customer base, perhaps, but not a new startup.

@j5: i thought that's what we had now with all the woot plus deals ;)

vote-for4vote-against

@cowboydann: true, except the entirety of the wootoff is available all at once.
