nondeal or not-a-deal

vote-for1vote-against

"Crap" because it aligns with Woot's brand and accurately describes the content of the tab.

@faughtey: Good call... And about the only one we've heard from staff recently. Seriously, the support is appreciated.

And I second the vote for Fresh... and Popular. Or triple, since I was beaten to that punch.

vote-for8vote-against

@faughtey: "Fresh"

Huzzah. This is the only reasonable suggestion so far.

I hereby Nth this suggestion. Let the community votes separate the wheat from the chaff as it were. The moderators can shove it up their mighty fine assets.

vote-for10vote-against

@dave bug: "the lounge" is too aol. What about "Craptastic Crap?" Or maybe "Craptacular Crap?" "Collective Crap?"

You guys are in a flat spin here with MiGs at your six. What do your Woot Emergency Procedures say to do? It IS possible to pull out of it, but chaff and flares like you're throwing out here aren't the way to go.

vote-for1vote-against

@lavikinga: How about crappy comments? I hate that myself. General would be a bit more polite, but as you say in the spirit of wootspeak, All the Crap might be something to consider. Actually, I don't know.

vote-for7vote-against

How about this - if you must keep the #stupid tag, how's about that not be grounds for exclusion from #popular? Popular is popular, dammit, and I don't give a flock of flying monkeys if it's off topic or not.

Just saying.

vote-for3vote-against

Actually, how difficult is it to keep threads on the fresh tab and when they fall off, set them to go to deal oriented and community? Too bland or too difficult? I seriously do not know anything much more than booting up the monster.

@dosquatch: What does the number sign before a word mean?

vote-for6vote-against

@klozitshoper: from wiki:
known as Hash tags

Short messages on services such as Twitter or identi.ca may be tagged by including one or more hash tags: words or phrases prefixed with a hash symbol (#),[9][10] with multiple words concatenated, such as those in:

#realale is my favorite kind of #beer

Then, a person can search for the term #realale and this tagged word will appear in the search engine results. These hash tags also show up in a number of trending topics websites, including Twitter's own front page. One phenomenon specific to the Twitter ecosystem are micro-memes, which are emergent topics for which a hash tag is created, used widely for a few days, then disappears.[11] For example, #ladiespleasestop, #oneletteroffmovies, #thingssaidb4sex, and #doyoumind were popular micro-memes in June 2009

@durkzilla: Random Crap. That sounds altogether fitting and descriptive. After all, the whole site is based upon random deals posted by random people and a LOT of it is random crap (God knows I've posted my fair share of crap). The same goes for the AtC side of deals. Have the Fresh and Popular tabs stay. Once the stuff falls off the first page of each, THEN roll it over to Deals Crap or Random Crap. It shouldn't be too hard to follow threads because the subscribe option has been implemented.

"Well......this was a terrible idea"

the amount of suppression in this thread is amazing, @davebug and @lukeduff good job

vote-for4vote-against

Wootversations?

Yeah, I know. Lame. or Crapversations?

vote-for4vote-against

didn't like that one okay fine

"wedit land"

edit: the above name idea is not woot edited

vote-for7vote-against

@dave bug: I want to understand it how this is going to work. The OT tab...if we ask a question and WE tag it OT, or whatever you guys finally decide on, will it automatically show up in the OT tab? Or does it show up on Fresh first and then be modded over to the OT Tab?

Topical Crap
Monkeying Around
Monkey Business
Deal Detritus
Crap & Chatter

vote-for6vote-against

I vote for MONKEY BUSINESS

vote-for1vote-against

@lavikinga: Thanks for the explanation of the pound sign. I am not a user of Twitter obviously! Random Crap sounds just about right to me. I vote for that. However, well noted that the consensus is to leave it as it was.

vote-for1vote-against

@lavikinga: Even better tags since I posted seconds ago. I like them all

vote-for2vote-against

@lavikinga The hope is to give the community a tag they can use to flag threads as social. The initial burst was to provide some examples and help populate the tab.

vote-for6vote-against

@gatzby: Thanks for some explanation. But jeez marie, it's like October 30, 1938, all over again! You remember what happened during Orson Welles' War of the Worlds??? People were jumping from buildings in despair. Finesse wasn't one of the strong points with this idea, so I am sure you can understand the frustration across the board. A heads up prior would've made things much easier on YOU. So you live and learn. Yeah, it'll be bumpy for a bit, but I'm sure you guys can make it workable.

vote-for7vote-against

GOLD.

"Excuse me, Ma'm. We have upgraded your thread to GOLD status. Would you mind coming with me?"

vote-for7vote-against

@tygerdave: all traces of tygerdave disappear across the void.

Deals Static
Not Deals Stuff

vote-for2vote-against

Of course, then we'd have to be kicking things out of Gold and back into Fresh!
