It really depends what you plan on doing with the camera, what kind of photos you want to take and how much you want to spend on lenses.

I'm really just looking to learn on an slr. I'd assume the pictures from the sony would at least have the quality of a good point and shoot, which would be good enough for me. I don't have alot of money to spend on lenses but it would be nice to be able to upgrade some as I learn more. Will I regret not waiting on a better model once I get some practice, or can I get some good experience and grow enough with the sony to justify maybe upgrading to a better camera somewhere down the road?
