Are you miserly with your votes?
I can look through tons of deals on the site, but I seem to unconsciously only up vote a few items a day, and I down vote even less. So do you limit your voting, and is it a conscience thing, or just a random process?
Not at all. Share the love is what I think.
I also cast down votes as well. Not as many as up votes, but some.
I almost never vote for items that are already popular, but I'm fairly generous on the fresh tab.
I'm not froogle. I give them, but I normally only do it when I think to -- then I get into a mood and go nuts.
@lichme
I do not think about the number of votes. I browse through and upvote the ones that sound good to me. I skip the I have no clue or seems like just OK deal and down vote the handful that really need it. I do consider the vendor with the sale as well as the price including shipping.
I usually save my downvotes for spammers and shady companies. If something's not quite my cup of tea, I think of someone like @lichme , and say He might like that deal. so I don't downvote it, but I won't upvote it either.
Nope. But, it would be interesting to see what would happen if you had a certain number of votes a day.
@cowboydann: How nice of you. But you were wrong, I hated that deal.
@capguncowboy: Don't be so easy with your votes, one day when you fall in love with one, you will regret all of the other ones you gave it up for.
@cowboydann: Soooo...now you're going to have to explain to some of the staff why you think they're spammers or shady companies. O.o
Added thought: Retribution is an ugly thing, please don't take away my woot.chat privileges. I'm kidding you; and keeping you honest. BTW: I think you're one of the most valuable contributors to woot. And that's no lie!
On topic - I don't consider myself a miserly voter, but did stop up-voting every single deal that I thought was a good one. Seemed to be pointless. Re: Questions - I upvote those I find interesting. Don't always comment on them, though. Do not down vote deals or questions. Again, pointless to me. Just my POV.
I think @kmeltzer has an interesting idea here....hmmmmm. I am mostly miserly, I suppose, because I just don't vote either way if I'm unsure whether it's a good deal or not, and I'm not sure when the last time was that I cast a downvote.
Yeah I'm pretty stingy with my votes, but not exactly miserly. That's probably why my deals never get over 10 votes (I'm lucky if I get one or two ><). I usually only downvote sketchy sites or duplicate deals.
I like voting stuff up. Once in a while, I vote something down, but the ratio is probably 98 to 2 (out of 100). I saw some questions yesterday where it looked like someone in a bad mood was just opening up a question, sorting by newest, and downvoting the most recent 4 or 5. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason other than someone just feeling mean. It just made me feel bad, and I voted them up. Then I opened up a bunch of random questions to see if it had happened, and where it did, I voted them back up.
Voting things up (or down) doesn't cost me anything (other than time, of course). Sometimes a question will have no downvotes on any comments, and then suddenly, there'll be some where it looks like someone's disagreed with, or doesn't like, someone. That's about the same as saying "shut up" when someone's talking, except it's more anonymous. I downvote mean stuff. Once in a while I downvote a question.

I don't vote a lot of questions up, either, though. I do if I find them interesting (whether or not I think I have anything to offer as commentary). I certainly do if it's something I'm going to contribute to, but sometimes I forget at first. I voted this up (for example) when I first saw it, because it sounded like an interesting discussion (and it has been).
I mostly ignore the Deals side, now. Sometimes @brutherford will post something on Moofi that's not sponsored, and looks fun, and I vote those up. I vote up most things that @faughtey posts, and many things that @thunderthighs posts, because they post stuff I like. Once in a while, I'll vote up comments on the deals side, especially on sponsored deals. It's cool when someone goes to such work to be helpful about a product, and voting up their comments encourages them to do it again.
As I said, it doesn't cost me anything, and I have an infinite store of upvotes.
Votes for everybody! You get a vote, and you get a vote...
I sell my votes......$1 per vote. feel free to contact my business manager anytime.
:D
I'm a deal slut. I throw them around to anyone who smiles at me.
But not ebay. That's just sleazy.
Jack Benny ain't got nothing on my votes! ;-)
I upvote a good deals and things I like (various games, movies, shirts).
I wouldn't say I'm miserly, but I don't vote on a deal unless I know it is a good bargain. I also don't upvote a deal unless the product is something I have at least a small amount of knowlege of and some interest in. Thus, not too many upvotes. Likewise, even fewer downvotes.
I upvote alot of comments, but not a lot of deals. I tend not to upvote deals that have been posted many times on this site. Example DVD/bluray that has been posted on here say 200 times. If it becomes a table pounding buy then i'll vote it up, but if it tends to be the same 5.99 or 7.99 pricepoint I won't vote on it. To me, this is not a deal, just a rehash of the same ol thing. If it became $1.00 or the price dropped 50%, then it is a deal.
I wouldn't say I'm uncharitable with my votes as much as I am lazy and easily distracted by shiny things. I click on a link and the next thing I know, I've wandered off the Woot preserve looking at other unnecessary want-its. Still haven't gotten the stones to be mean enough or exasperated enough to down vote crappy deals or crappy comments.
@ecriscit: Seriously. I like the Firefly series as much as the next browncoat, but I get annoyed when I constantly see the show and the movie on here at the same price +/- a dollar.
