The deal is not to get one !!! The rings in those things get stinky and they need refresh tablets. My wife and I Hate the frontloadder we have.

Sears and your local store are going to have the best deals. Don't forget to ask about removal of your old machines (if applicable) as some companies either charge a fee or won't dispose of them. Also, check to make sure the hoses and cords are included in the price (when I went to Lowes price shopping, it was going to cost an additional $25 for the installation kit which included the hoses and cords). Also check with your water and power provider (ours is trying to be green and offer rebates for buying front load washers as they reduce the amount of water used).

Though I agree with @djbowman: if I had to do it again, I would not have purchased a front loader.

SOME where recently (on the AtC side?) there has been a discussion of the seals on the front loaders. If they are wiped with something (I forget now what) PRIOR TO INITIAL USE, the mildew/nastiness is drastically reduced. Off to find the discussion.

@djbowman: You just need to leave the door open after you wash a load. Our Kenmore has been in use for 4 years now without any noticable odor. Again we just leave the door open for a few hours. Our model purposefully does not have a light triggered by the door. Other than this minor inconvenience, we love it and would buy another front load washer without hesitation!

@theoneill555: SEARS OUTLET
We have a Sears Outlet near us and were able to pick-up a scratch and dent pair for half the price of a new. Ours were new and never used but there was a minor scratch on the side of the washer and a scratch across the door of the dryer. IMO it's a washing machine that sits in the basement so the scratch was a non issue for me. To me honest, if I bought these new and they arrive with a scratch I don't know if I would send them back...

@jimmyd103- 4 kids and one of them being autistic who likes to slam doors just for fun doesnt make that a feasbile solution.

@djbowman: Sorry to hear that.... hopefully you get a little bit of comfort knowing you are saving some money? It wasn't the case when I purchased my front-load but they now make top load HE modles. So, maybe you could sell your frontload on craigslist and invest in a top load? Sorry about your negative experience when we have been more than pleased with ours. Best of luck....

That has been my thought but I bought a extended warranty (which I have had to have them come out at least 4 times now) Wouldnt feel right about passing on this lemon to someone else so I suffer. In the end though I even have a High Efficeny model but still not impressed.
