Why can't i down vote?
Ok, so i have not yet given anything a negative vote. not once. yet i saw a post today that deserved one, so i went and clicked on the little down pointing arrow and i got this
"Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.
But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?"
I have voted positively several times, and not voted negatively once. so what the hell is up with the above msg? If the voting system is not going to work, can't we just do away with it?
I think some law of small numbers has come out to bite you. You've only voted for 5 deals, and-- though you might not remember it-- you actually voted against a deal posted 11 days ago. (see http://deals.woot.com/deals/users/ndcouch/votedagainst).
P.S. Also see this recent thread: http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/d74e984b-e65e-4152-9734-865a375b515c/why-wont-woot-let-me-vote-honestly#12
your downvote capability is based on the upvotes you've made in the last 24 hours only. You are unable to "bank" them up for several days.
@capguncowboy: I didn't know that! Thanks for the tip.
@capguncowboy: Man, and I thought I had like a thousand down votes stored up. Not that I'd ever use them, mind you, but just the thought of what destruction I could bring upon an unruly member made me happy. Oh well...
@heymo: ah, that makes sense. i cant remember my downvote.... it is very likely i was not sober when i did it :)
