Debranded 25" HP monitor gets no signal input. How can I fix this?
25" "famous maker" monitor from Sellout suddenly says "check video signal" when connected to any source (PC or console) - indicating that no video signal is reaching the monitor. PC and console work fine with different monitor, so the issue is with the "famous brand" monitor. Have put latest HP drivers for HP 2509m monitor on PC, and this did not fix it.
HP site has instructions for troubleshooting - indicating that this is a common problem with HP monitors.
Does anyone in the community have any ideas about what to try next, other than sending the monitor to the dump?

1. unconnect and reconnect cable and power cord from both pc and power source (outlet or surge supressor)
2. try another cable from puter to monitor and do the same for the power
3. Check the menu options on the monitor after you see if any lights/signs come on the monitor (mine intially showed yellow then goes blue when a signal is received)
4. do not forget the actual number one rule after checking cables - reboot. this sounds simple, but reboot after checking each step. replace a cable - reboot etc.
Troubleshooting is quite lengthy when done correctly.
Follow up - are you using it as vga dvi or hdmi, through a card or through a standard motherboard with integrated graphics?
(someone want to jump in here, my troubleshooting skills are rusty)
