Did you hear Jon Lord, cofounder of Deep Purple passed away?
Deep Purple co-founder and keyboardist Jon Lord died Monday at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism. He also had pancreatic cancer. Lord was surrounded by his family when he passed at the London Clinic.
Jon Lord co-founded Deep Purple in 1968 and co-wrote many of their songs, including "Smoke on the Water." He retired from Purple in 2002 to concentrate on classical and orchestral music. He also was an early member of Whitesnake. A post on Lord's website says, "Jon passes from Darkness to Light."
