Where is the best place to buy a new Apple iPod touch?

The prices will be all within a few dollars at just about any authorized dealer that sells them. Obviously, buying direct from Apple would be your best choice if you don't need it immediately.

I found the best deal at Target. Best Buy gets close, but they backorder and cancel so much I don't feel I can trust them to deliver.

Check out coupons for Target every week. I picked up an 8GB one for $135. Target priced it at $195, they ran a coupon for 10% off ($175) and then threw in a $40 gift card ($135).

Buying from Apple also gives you free engraving and they sometimes offer special prices. You could always put your phone number on it and hope it's returned if you lose it...

Like they said above, it doesn't matter. Apple controls the retail prices of it's products +/- 5 bucks. Pick whatever is easiest. If you have Amazon Prime, go there for no tax and free shipping. Apple gives free engraving but charges a good bit for shipping and also charges tax.
