Um..... Aren't you a new user?

vote-for5vote-against

I see that you can vote any of them up... but it looks like you can change your mind and vote it back down.

vote-for4vote-against

You can un-vote, but you can't really down-vote a post to a lower number than when you found it.

vote-for19vote-against

A simple tool tip when hovering over the vote button would solve this issue.

vote-for2vote-against

I just read all your comments, and I'm still confused. At least I know where to click. . .

vote-for4vote-against

How the heck do you UP vote?

vote-for5vote-against

it's not rocket science... i think it works perfect as it's set up.

vote-for8vote-against

You just click the red image next to each comment. But no one tells you about it. I guess its like Digg.com.

vote-for14vote-against

I like the tool tip idea, but I think it needs to be a little more expressive than "vote" (which is what is there now). If one doesn't participate a lot on websites with this set-up (ahem...like me), then I'd just like some confirmation that it is what I think: "Vote: I like this deal" over the deal tags, maybe, and "Vote: This comment is useful" for the comment ones? I know it isn't rocket science, but what would it hurt to make it really easy for noobs?

vote-for9vote-against

@anotherhiggins: Well, that's broken. We need a downvote, not an unvote.

vote-for2vote-against

Crap. I agree...a bit more info about the vote buttons would have been great. I've just been a complete lurker and buyer this whole time, I don't know how I missed out on all the fun. Can I get a do-over?

vote-for3vote-against

After reading a bunch of comments I still have no idea whatthehell ya'll are talking about.

vote-for3vote-against

I like the shirtwoot concept better, where you can vote up or down. This vote button was confusing. I don't care how stupid someone thinks that makes me. It's just not intuitive.

vote-for13vote-against

@FritoBandito: Agreed. (+1) I've been arguing for a vote down button for weeks.

When I first started beta testing, there was an additional link at the bottom of posts where you could vote a deal as being "Stupid". If a deal got enough "Stupid" votes, it was moved to its own "Stupid" tab (at the top along side "Popular" and "Fresh").

I kinda liked that model. I think it would help discourage karma-whores from trying to attain the most deals posted.

Bring back the Stupid Tab!!

vote-for3vote-against

@glmwoot: shirtwoot doesn't allow you to vote down, just up. Like how they have it set it up here.

vote-for2vote-against

@anotherhiggins: Agreed with the "stupid" vote... There clearly needs to be a way to make the stupid/junk/crap disappear, or at least marked as such.

vote-for5vote-against

I agree that there needs to at least be some explanation of the vote buttons. I didn't even know that you could vote until I got the email that the private beta was about to be complete.

vote-for1vote-against

I think a lot of "up votes" work better than adding a "down vote" just through attrition, but I like the "stupid" idea, or some similar word and then a tab for those items. I would feel compelled to click the "stupid" tab every time I visited the site....

vote-for2vote-against

I too like the idea for the "stupid" tab. It just makes sense. This is Woot after all and not the most pc place on the web (which is actually why I like it - people here give you the real bs on products and are not afraid to say when something sucks.)

Also helpful would be a better way to find deals not the front page. Just number the darn pages please. I do not really want to click through pages of "next" to get to a deal on page 7.

And while I am pitching my 2 bits in the drum - how about bringing back the eggplant and broccoli colors as a token nod to us old Wooters.

vote-for2vote-against

I need woot for dummies - where is the vote button?

vote-for1vote-against

Yeah, the voting interface is almost invisible... certainly not dummy proof

vote-for1vote-against

I've been clicking around the site for ten or fifteen minutes and the vote function is only now becoming clear (I think). I thought the vote function was a yeah/nay process (you can vote for or against the item/comment). But it looks like it is only a "for" function. If true, then one idea would be to make the site emphasize more what items are leading so you can see a direct correlation with the vote function. Ok, then I go to the Popular tab and the votes appear to not be driving popularity. So I'm back to being confused again.

vote-for1vote-against

I think the buttons should at least say vote here under them or something.

vote-for1vote-against

I agree that voting needs to be more intuitive. First time users (like we all were at one time) will generally find it daunting, and thus be less likely to buy something. Maybe simplify the overall look with fewer items, at least initially until your user community builds up more.

vote-for1vote-against

I'd like to be able to vote either way. The current concept is okay, but I think better feedback would be given if we could express "like" and "dislike" on the item. Just my .02

vote-for2vote-against

I like the ability to vote, but I think better feedback could be had by allowing people to vote "like" and "dislike" as opposed to just being able to vote for an item for popularity. Just my .02

vote-for1vote-against

They just need to say vote below the button
