I am a walking zombie proof fortress. Seeing as how zombies don't exist, zombieproofing is about as complicated as santa-proofing a chimney or easter bunny proofing your back yard.

I would take any simple structure and surround it by people who watch TV shows like Jerry Springer. The zombies would be repelled (or disinterested) by the people with no brains.

@wnyx585am: hmmm... you may be on to something... this is somewhat like a cloaking mechanism that may make you stay off their radar.

You may be on to something...

There's a supermarket with an Ace Hardware store inside it not far from me. It's located in a poor neighborhood and doesn't have the traditional picture windows. The entire store is one big block of concrete, with the only openings being the two automatic glass doors and the loading dock in the back. It's only a mile or two away and is my "zombie apocalypse shelter" of choice, as those doors and loading dock would be very easy to barricade and the store has everything you'd need to hunker down and make a long term plan involving rifles, power tools, homemade explosives and popular zombie-destruction weapons such as chainsaws and axes. It actually wasn't all the zombie stuff that made me think of it, it was Stephen King's novelette The Mist, wherein a group of shoppers end up barricaded inside a supermarket trying to fend off a nightmarish horde of otherworldly monsters. Of course, in true SK style, it was the all too familiar monster within that they truly had to fear.

@kayak206: Of course they don't exist... YET... that's fine. We have written down your name and when they come... we will see if they believe in you... it is my personal thought that they will believe in you... being lunch.

I hate Zombie threads. Some reason this is more acceptable than a Twilight thread.

I would build a conference center and only host political fundraisers. Given the fact that zombies only eat brains, they'd probably avoid such functions rather than face the threat of starvation.

'50s style fallout shelter.

Magic force fields run off a tiny nuclear reactor clipped to my belt. I can go anywhere in perfect safety and comfort because my magic force field is both impenetrable and climate controlled.

I'm gonna pull a Hershel from The Walking Dead, minus the zombies in the barn, and live on a secluded farm in the middle of nowhere.

@psumek: Please no judge zombie threads too harshly.

Difficult to find stylish clothes when require different sizes for different body parts.

@durkzilla: If they were magic, why would you need a nuclear reactor to power them?

jus sayin...everyone knows that magic is powered from thoughts of cats and unicorns.

Something like this http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/defence-and-security-blog/2011/mar/17/military

Zombies don't swim, and it meets all the other criteria - impervious, capable of carrying lots supplies, off the grid, and armament capable.

@matt1976: This would be on the ground... the original Day of the Dead, they were in an underground bunker and the zombies eventually got in.... It is my beleif that you need a house on stilts... only the stilts would need reinforcement because the zeds could not climb... house on stilts allows you to go outside and survey the land without being in "danger" plus you could set up a post on the balcony to snipe from.
